About this internship

The Food Product Development Intern will assist the Product Development Scientists in developing benchtop prototypes. This will include formulating, batching, and executing iterative prototypes, diving into current literature to find novel solutions, and screening functional ingredients/techniques targeted at improving specific product attributes (flavor, texture, aroma, etc.). Working in our new test kitchen, this position requires daily work at the bench, formulating and then evaluating product prototypes. This is an exciting opportunity to create delicious food with cultivated meat. 

Duties include

  • Batching (weighing and prepping) ingredients for daily prototyping. 
  • Learning and assisting with the mixing and forming processes for our various products. 
  • Diving into current literature and designing experiments to screen various procedures and ingredients. 
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all prototype formulations, including tasting notes and photos.  
  • Keep the test kitchen clean, organized, and stocked. 
  • Manage our employee referral program from design to execution

About you

  • Strong preference for someone with previous internship experience within a food company or product development function.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in food science, food chemistry, or related field.
  • Ability to apply scientific principles to making delicious food. 
  • You’re a food person who cares about what they eat and where it comes from. Culinary experience is a plus.
  • You are a self-starter, organized, and accountable. Someone we can depend on to get the work done with minimal micro-managing! 

Length of internship

  • 10-12 weeks
