Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the teams that deliver component and vehicle EMC requirements, design, and validation. You will be an EMC expert on a variety of electrical system design topics that bring hardware to life. You will have deep experience managing teams and delivering results on a tight timeline.
You will work with engineering leaders across hardware, software, infrastructure, procurement, finance, vehicle engineering, and various suppliers to develop project schedules, identify milestones, flag risks, estimate budgets, and clearly communicate on-going progress to the executive team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, review, and update of component and vehicle EMC specifications
  • Drive the team to deliver the test plans, results, and mitigations for EMC
  • Develop, deploy and improve the technology development processes and functions for the company within the EMC domain
  • Mentor, train, and develop EMC engineers
  • Review and approve requisite documentation (Specifications, test reports, etc.)
  • Lead the milestone delivery plan and associated development and test plans
  • Timely containment and resolution of technical issues
  • Participate in electrical component design reviews to aid identification of potential EMC vulnerabilities
  • Regularly report the health of EMC compliance to cross-functional leadership
  • Approval of budget, resource planning, and scheduling
  • Update job knowledge by remaining current on codes and requirements; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; and participating in professional organizations

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience: 10+ years of EMC engineering and 5+ years of people management
  • Working knowledge of relevant CISPR, ISO, SAE, FCC, and UNECE EMC standards and regulations.
  • Experience with essential test equipment, such as Spectrum/Network Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Electronics design experience including PCBA layout
  • Track record in managing complex cross-functional projects
  • Ability to keep the big picture in focus and to provide clear, well-structured, and concise communications tailored to each appropriate audience

Bonus Qualifications

  • Hands on experience with automotive EMC validation and countermeasures
  • Experience growing a team
