Job Description

Electric Hydrogen’s mission is to create an abundant and decarbonized material future. Our outstanding people are our most important asset and will allow us to deliver hydrogen from renewable electrolysis for heavy industry, at prices below fossil fuels. 
The Facilities Manager manages the operations of our facility in San Carlos, CA. You will support technical and office staff and work with management to maintain and improve the facilities. You will also be the contact for external contractors (electricians, plumbers, HVAC) and will work regularly with the building owner. 
You will be based onsite in our San Carlos office in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Onsite daily at our San Carlos facility at least 8 hours per day with occasional night, weekend and holiday hours 
  • Be able to be on call 24-7 for Facility Emergencies (which hopefully don’t come up often!) 
  • Develop and lead our environmental health and safety (EHS) efforts
  • Coordinate and manage preventive maintenance for buildings, labs and equipment
  • Establish new lab/shop/test capabilities (e.g. power, water, gas handling services)
  • Manage shipping and receiving 
  • Log received goods into inventory via tracking system, and deliver or coordinate delivery to recipients 
  • Ensure manufacturing equipment installation requirements are present before installation (Electrical, Plumbing, Venting)/Coordinate with necessary vendors 
  • Help with taking things to dumpsters to keep the pathways clear and safe
  • Willing and able to help teammates with straightforward requests

COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – able to tailor emails to the appropriate audience and succinctly answer questions 
  • Work with multiple vendors and negotiate services/products on time/on budget 
  • Read and explain technical and architectural drawings/specification 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years experience in facilities maintenance or equivalent related functions 
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards and Industry Codes (OSHA, EPA, DEP) and other environmental regulations 
  • Knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC) and codes 
  • Knowledge of general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management 
  • Hold a valid drivers’ license and a forklift license/certification
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide documentation 
  • Follow federal and state covid regulations such as wearing a mask onsite 
  • Must be a well-organized, detail and customer (internal and external) oriented self-starter 
  • Must climb ladders for maintenance/assembly needs  
  • Must occasionally pick up items at local supply houses/specialty vendors 
  • Safely lift up to 50lbs and use a handtruck and dolly 
  • Startup experience a plus 
  • No education requirement, we want people that have experience working hard  
  • Basic carpentry and repair skills would be ideal (adjusting doors, replacing ceiling tiles)
