SUMMARY

Nexamp is seeking an experienced, licensed electrical solar photovoltaic (PV) Technician to provide field service support for Nexamp’s growing portfolio of PV infrastructure. The candidate will cover a region of operation and handle multiple projects sites. The candidate must have the ability to travel from site to site in their operational area as well as needed technical support in neighboring regions. The Field Service Technician may also be called on to assist in site walks and quality inspections as directed by the Quality Lead in their region or the Director of Construction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conducts scheduled and unscheduled field maintenance
  • Travel between and be responsible for providing service-related work for multiple projects in a region
  • Ability to Identify and documents faults, non-conforming construction, specification deviations, and safety violations
  • Interacts with Nexamp Project Management Team daily
  • Performs repairs, troubleshooting and corrective actions where required
  • Performs commissioning activities to include but not limited to, DAS commissioning, Inverter programming and commissioning, IV curve
  • Works closely with Nexamp’s NAMS/NEC to ensure all equipment is commissioned and operating as specified
  • Performs site de-energizations and re-energizations

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5-10 years of experience or equivalent in work and internship experience and education
  • Understanding of medium voltage systems and equipment a plus
  • Familiarity with DG and utility scale PV and storage, preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of quality control methods and procedures
  • Highly developed electrical and PV related troubleshooting skills and expertise
  • Thorough understanding of photovoltaic principles, AC and DC electrical characteristics (e.g. power, energy, voltage, amperage, phase, power factor)
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, cellular, fiber communication
  • Journeyman’s electrical license in good standing in region of operation
  • Driver’s License in good standing
  • Strong office skill including use of computers, Microsoft Office, data acquisition systems, communications, and remote computing
  • Understanding of test equipment, procedures, and operation
  • Possesses prominent level of understanding and technical expertise in all means and methods relating to PV installation commissioning, operation, and troubleshooting
  • Fully understands principles of the application, design, installation, and safe operation of grid-tied, utility scale PV and ancillary electrical systems
  • Maintains thorough understanding of Company and subcontractor capabilities
  • Sustains knowledge of emerging technologies and their application in the field
  • Day Travel to Sites 100%, Overnight travel up to 50% 
  • Ability to life up to 75 lbs.
