Join us in powering North America!Your Opportunity One Permanent Full Time Position.   Capital Power is currently seeking proactive and detail-oriented individual with strong corporate accounting experience to join our team as a Corporate Accounting Specialist.In this role, you will act as a strategic business partner across the organization, ensuring accurate and timely budgeting, forecasting, reporting of corporate G&amp;A and headcount as along with accurate payroll accounting.You will contribute to our team by:<ul><li>Coordinating the corporate general and administrative (G&amp;A) annual budget and quarterly forecasting process across the enterprise, including headcount.</li><li>Acting as a business partner with senior-level corporate G&amp;A budget owners, which includes supporting and training new leaders on the G&amp;A budget and forecast process and providing training on Hyperion.</li><li>Providing input into the design and implementation of G/L coding and structure for corporate costs, while streamlining the account structure for corporate costs and maintaining the appropriate privacy over salary data.</li><li>Analyzing corporate G&amp;A variances to budget, forecast and prior year which are reported to the Executive Team, Audit Committee and reported in the MD&amp;A.</li><li>Preparing month-end journal entries, ensuring all applicable payroll and corporate G&amp;A-related transactions are accurately recorded.</li><li>Preparing monthly payroll reconciliations and working cross-functionally with the Payroll team to resolve any discrepancies.</li><li>Collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate corporate G&amp;A reporting.</li><li>Providing input and recommendations on ways to optimize processes, timelines, and flow of information</li><li>Developing and maintaining enterprise-level reporting using tools such as Power BI</li><li>Contributing to the Shared Services team by maintaining and implementing internal controls around Information Produced by the Entity (IPE) controls key business reports used by the team.</li></ul>What you will bring to the role:   Education: <ul><li>Bachelor of Commerce or Business degree with a major in Accounting or Finance</li><li>An accounting designation or progress towards a CPA designation is an asset.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>3 – 5 years of relevant experience</li><li>The ability to automate and improve processes, with an interest in technical solutions and continuous process improvement.</li><li>Strong attention to detail, excellent planning and organization skills, advanced Excel skills, and can perform in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.</li><li>Experience in the power industry is considered an asset.</li></ul>Technical Skills: <ul><li>Proficiency with Oracle G/L, Hyperion, Microsoft Power BI and MS Office suite of applications, particularly Excel.</li><li>Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.</li></ul>Working Conditions:<ul><li>Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible very minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.</li><li>Overtime hours required during peak periods (Quarter End/Year End), including weekends based on timing of deadlines.</li></ul>Additional Details:This position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.Clearance of Credit check is required for this position.In order to be considered for this role you must be legally eligible to work in Canada.The successful candidate for this position will undergo an education verification, reference checks and criminal record check.               Capital Power employees that refer a successful candidate for this position are eligible for a $1000 Referral Reward!We believe that creating a culture that supports employee physical, mental, financial, and social wellbeing is critical to our success.
