We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer - Battery Algorithms and Controls. This position requires an individual with a strong background in battery control and algorithms. It’s a plus if candidates have experience applying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques to battery prognostic health monitoring (PHM) problems. Our ideal candidate exhibits a can-do attitude and approaches his or her work with vigor and determination. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, to possess the ability to learn quickly and to strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. 

You Will:

· Work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to advance our cutting-edge battery management features

· Work in a dynamic, cross-functional team to advance our cutting-edge battery management features

· Contribute to our world-acclaimed battery product for mass-market passenger vehicles and energy products

· Design and develop high quality battery controls to ensure safety and performance of vehicle battery packs in real time

· Design and develop accurate and robust battery algorithms and models such as state of charge, state of energy, state of health to optimize vehicle performance and customer experience

· Design and develop data-driven prognostic/diagnostic algorithms to detect premature battery aging and defects to prevent catastrophic failures in customer vehicles

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as controls, battery cells, embedded software, system engineering, vehicle integration teams to define requirements and perform integration testing

· Verify and validate software using unit test, hardware-in-the-loop test, battery pack and vehicle testing

· Support the Battery Software department with additional duties/tasks as needed.

You Bring:

· Knowledge of commonly-used battery chemistries such as LFP and NMC

· Experience with battery management systems and EV powertrain

· Experienced with model-based software design and development tools

· Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and C/C++

· Knowledge of software development and validation lifecycle

· Experience with battery pack and vehicle testing

Advantageous:

· Knowledge of vehicle controls such as motor, onboard charger, and thermal systems

· Knowledge of battery estimation algorithms such as SOC, SOH, SOP

· Knowledge of electrochemistry and battery modeling

· Knowledge of AI/ML and PHM techniques applicable to engineering applications

· Working knowledge of AUTOSAR

Education Requirements:

· Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related fields is required.  Master's degree or PhD is preferred. 

Salary Range: The compensation range for this position is specific to the locations listed below and is the range Lucid reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position taking into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including job-related knowledge; skillset; experience, education and training; certifications; and other relevant business and organizational factors.

 

Additional Compensation and Benefits: Lucid offers a wide range of competitive benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability insurance, vacation, and 401k. The successful candidate may also be eligible to participate in Lucid’s equity program and/or a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing such programs.  (Cash or equity incentive awards, if any, will depend on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and company performance.)

Base Pay Range (Annual)

$154,000—$211,750 USD
