<h2>Overview</h2>The Controller directs and manages all accounting processes for VEIC and its subsidiaries including ledger activities, GAAP compliance, audit management, treasury and asset management.   The Controller ensures that appropriate internal financial control procedures are in place and operational.  The Controller is responsible for VEIC’s implementation of the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) rules, regulations, cost principles and audit requirements as detailed in the OMB Uniform Guidance and required by VEIC clients.  The Controller ensures all general ledger activities for VEIC and subsidiaries are in accordance with GAAP and that governing policies, procedures and documentation are up to date, properly communicated and organizationally enforced. The Controller stays current with changes in GAAP and is responsible for implementing new accounting standards.  The Controller acts as a resource to the Director, Financial Operations &amp; Systems and CFO, and provides accounting guidance to accommodate corporate and contract objectives.   Location: This is a hybrid position with flexibility. While much of the work can be done remotely, we’re ideally looking for someone based in Vermont who can occasionally come into the Winooski, VT office for team collaboration and in-person connection.  Compensation: At VEIC, we are committed to pay transparency. The starting pay range for this position will be between $130,000-140,000. Based on market data, pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and location. This includes activities such as: </li> <li>Providing real-time constructive feedback on an ongoing basis. </li> <li>Developing and communicating clear guidelines and expectations. </li> <li>Assessing individual training needs and coordinating training as needed. </li> <li>Helping team members develop interpersonal, administrative, and technical skills. </li> <li>Helping employees set individual professional development and team goals to maximize the performance, efficiency and work quality of the team. </li> <li>Coordinating resources with finance operations team staff on finance team initiatives and processes </li> <li>Providing cross-training opportunities within the finance team to provide development opportunities and strengthen our processes and internal controls.  </li> <li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul> <li>Strong personal commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of VEIC. </li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA strongly preferred. 8-12 years in a financial leadership role or equivalent combination of education and experience. </li> <li>A minimum of 5 years of management experience, including staff supervision and the ability to demonstrate goal development and attainment. Current CPA certification preferred. </li> <li>Knowledge of the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) rules, regulations, cost principles and audit requirements as detailed in the OMB Uniform Circular preferred. </li> <li>Experience in a comprehensive ERP system. Experience in NetSuite preferred. </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to manage a job/project cost accounting system. </li> <li>Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to handle multiple tasks and competing priorities. </li> <li>Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. </li> <li>Credit Check Requirement: Due to the fiduciary responsibilities and the sensitive nature of the Controller position, a satisfactory credit check is required for employment.
