Role SummaryRenew Home is looking for a strong backend Software Engineer to join our Consumer Experience team and help drive the day-to-day experiences of our customers. In this role, you will work with product, analytics, partnerships, external partners, and the engineering team to develop new product features and new device integrations.What You Will Do<ul> <li>Design, develop and build backend features to support a wide variety of Renew Home customer experiences and third-party device integrations to enable energy saving automation.</li> <li>Architect systems to handle users at scale.</li> <li>Serve as the technical owner of critical product experience flows. </li> <li>Provide technical guidance to others in order to maintain a high quality bar, unblock junior engineers, and support correct prioritization of work.</li> <li>Work with cross-functional teams consisting of engineering, product management, and partnerships.</li> <li>Work on many aspects of our stack: Python, Nx, PostgreSQL, Celery, AWS/GCP (CDK, ECS/EKS, RDS, Redshift, S3, SQS, SES, or equivalent in GCP), Ubuntu, Apache, Redis, Git, Jira.</li> <li>Implement API monitoring tools and proactively monitor API service performance.</li> <li>Independently handle the task breakdown and prioritization required to resolve an issue.</li> <li>Participate in our development process - regular team updates, standup meetings, 1-on-1’s and peer code reviews.</li> </ul>Requirements<ul> <li>7-10+ years of industry experience building backend software services.</li> <li>Bachelors/Masters degree in computer science or demonstrated experience in the software industry.</li> <li>Experience architecting systems for scale and performance - building and maintaining scalable APIs and working with REST frameworks.</li> <li>Experience building robust technical integrations with external partners:</li> <ul> <li>Navigating partnerships and alignment from the engineering side.</li> <li>Gracefully handling technical issues with 3P integrations to minimize customer impact.</li> <li>Coordinating with external engineering teams.</li> </ul> <li>Strong SQL skills, proficiency with SQL and no-SQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, Redshift, mongodb etc.).</li> <li>Very strong software engineering background and proficiency in one or more of Python, Java, PHP, Ruby.</li> <li>Strong leadership and communication skills - the ability to take ownership of the entire development process.</li> <li>Ability to work through ambiguity, excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.</li> <li>Bonuses:</li> <ul> <li>Experience with scalable distributed data processing.</li> <li>Experience with AWS Lambda/Cloud functions, pub/sub, Prefect tools.</li> <li>Experience with cloud automation and infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK.</li> <li>Experience in the electric power industry.</li> </ul> </ul>BenefitsWhat You'll Get<ul> <li>A full-time position, with a competitive salary based on experience.
