The ideal candidate will have a solid background in material science and engineering, with substantial experience in managing materials for large-scale civil engineering projects, particularly in hydropower developments.<ul><li>Oversee and manage the sourcing, procurement, and quality control of materials required for the Hydropower project.</li><li>Ensure materials meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Conduct regular site inspections to assess the quality and suitability of materials used in construction activities.</li><li>Monitor and coordinate material testing, including strength, durability, and safety tests, in collaboration with laboratories and other stakeholders.</li><li>Review and maintain documentation related to material certifications, approvals, and inventory management.</li><li>Liaise with project engineers, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective material deliveries.</li><li>Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations related to material handling and storage.</li></ul>With a track record of achievement in a related role, you will have gained your experience in a consultancy environment and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work.Suitable applicants will have/be:<ul><li>Tertiary qualifications or a related discipline (e.g. B.Sc/BS in Geology).</li><li>Minimum 10 years of experience as a Material Engineer, preferably in hydropower or large-scale infrastructure projects.</li><li>In-depth knowledge of materials used in construction, including concrete, steel, and geotechnical materials.</li><li>Familiarity with relevant industry standards, regulations, and quality assurance procedures.</li><li>Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a remote field environment.</li></ul>SMEC is an equal opportunity employer.
