Job Description

Pachama is looking for a new team member to guarantee quality and growth of our carbon projects across Latin America. This new role will be responsible for conceptualizing, piloting, supporting, supervising execution and performance with our partners and supporting the growth of a network of new forest carbon projects across Latin America leveraging Pachama's remote sensing technology. The ideal candidate will have experience in forestry and carbon, working with diverse groups of stakeholders and strategic partners and have experience building scalable carbon projects across Latin America. The new role will be a key member of Pachama’s carbon origination team and work across all functional teams to create the systems and processes to ensure excellence in project origination, implementation and maintenance.
Location Pachama is an entirely remote team. For this role, being in Latin America is required given that, it will be required to travel to the project sites.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design of new ecosystem restoration and conservation projects across different Biomes.
  • Assist forestry project development, management and activities supervision;· Development and improvement of best practices proceedings.
  • Support the assessment of carbon potential on new projects using a combination of field data, scientific and remote data.
  • Support the creation of biomass models for new regions to support Pachama's origination work.
  • Forest carbon projects evaluation using Pachama technology to assess quality and success.
  • Act as a resource for internal and external stakeholders on restoration and forest conservation practices.
  • Stakeholder management working especially within team, clients and on the ground partners, working closely with implementation partners to ensure that the appropriate assistance is provided to new carbon projects.

Experience:

  • Ability to communicate complex topics to non expert audiences along with a strong demonstrated of partnerships skills.
  • 5+ years of project management experience or of research/data/science work .
  • On the ground experience with conservation/REDD+, Ecological Restoration projects, Forest Science, other carbon projects and/or carbon offset protocols.
  • Forest mensuration skills: familiarity with forest sampling techniques, allometry, baseline calculations, remote sensing technique.
  • A strong ability to prioritize across multiple dimensions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in Portuguese and English required
