Where in the world of OVO will I be working?

You will be working as part of the architecture team within the Technology team here at OVO. OVO's architecture team ensures we have a clear and coherent architecture that enables us to deliver on our plan zero goals.

 

What will I be doing?

You will work with colleagues across OVO to shape our architecture and ensure we have a north star for our technology architecture. You will provide subject matter expertise on technology architecture and work with teams to help them build solutions balancing the tech, business and the organisational considerations, while keeping true to the technology vision.

You will be comfortable offering expert views on technology choices and working with others to drive adoption and implementation. You will evangelise our technical architecture to accelerate our progress.

Key responsibilities include:

• Working with colleagues across OVO to shape our architecture and ensure we have a north star for our technology architecture
• Reviewing, validating and evangelising technologies that accelerate our progress towards our plan zero goals.
• Have awareness of incumbent, new and emerging technologies and identify how they could be applied in OVO. 
• Contribute to the overall architecture approach for OVO and evangelise architectural direction. 
• Accountability for architecture standards and finding opportunities for architecture adoption where it adds value. 
• Participate in architecture advisory and governance processes that ensure that technology enabled solutions are fit for purpose. 
• Consult with project and product teams across OVO to ensure consistency with the architecture, as well as to identify when it is necessary to modify the architecture. 
• Manage solution design inputs and outputs, ensure the quality of solution designs, and ensure that they comply with the architecture principles. 
• Communicate the value of architecture to the OVO organisation. Contributing to a communication plan and an architecture library of content.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff to to assist them in being the best IT professional that they can be. 

 

Is this the job for me?

It absolutely is if you are an inquisitive, enthusiastic architect who enjoys shaping technology direction while balancing the business and the organisational considerations in a complex product led agile organisation.

 

Ideally you will have:

• A strong technology background including expert knowledge of contemporary technologies including open source, cloud (AWS, GCP), Kafka, web and mobile.
• A clear understanding of how technologies can be used to provide amazing and effective experiences that deliver to company goals.
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with senior leaders across a business. Experience integrating technology into wider business strategy.
• Confidence in rationalising technology choices and driving adoption. With exposure and understanding of existing, new, and emerging technologies, and processing environments.
• An appreciation for cross-functional you-build-it-you-run-it style technology approaches.
