Depending on where developers connect, they may be on the hook to pay millions of dollars to upgrade power lines, substations etc.</li></ul></div><h2>What You'll Do</h2><p>As Nira’s first AI engineer, you’ll work closely with the CTO to explore how we can use AI in the niche domain of transmission planning. Your work will directly accelerate renewables getting built.</p><p>Nira operates in the world of Grid Interconnection, and you'll need to be comfortable becoming an expert in a domain you've likely never heard of before. We're launching a variety of new products, so you should be comfortable with high autonomy and ownership. Most importantly, you should be passionate about fixing our climate!</p><p>Examples projects include:</p><ul><li>Launching new AI-first products that 10x Transmission Engineers at renewable developers.</li><li>Launching new AI-first products that 10x Transmission Engineers at ISOs and utilities.</li><li>Building internal AI tools for Nira’s Transmission Engineers.</li><li>Working with SWEs at Nira to set up AI coding infrastructure.</li></ul><h2>About you</h2><ul><li>1-6 years out of school.</li><li>At least 1 year working on projects that apply AI into a niche domain.</li><li>Hungry and ambitious. Potentially wants to be a founder one day.</li><li>Mission-oriented and focused on working on climate.</li><li>Take ownership and thrive in ambiguity</li><li>Excited to work with Transmission Engineers and learn about how our electrical grid works.</li><li>Capable of rolling with the punches. Plans change when working at a rapidly growing startup</li></ul>
