Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.  </div><div><br></div><div><b style="font-size:18px;">Position Overview:</b><span style="font-size:18px;"> </span></div><div>We are looking for talented technical interns to join our stellar team for the summer or during the school year!</div><br><br><h3>Program Details:</h3><ul><li>Summer 12-16 week internship program for 40 hours per week or Flexible school year internship for 30+ hours per week</li><li>For school year internships, expected time dedication is flexible and tailored to your academic schedule</li></ul><h3>Magnet Engineering Intern (onsite):</h3><ul><li>Magnet Engineering Interns will support design and testing for Thea Energy’s HTS magnet prototyping programs. </li><li>These programs include large scale HTS magnet systems and other fusion magnet-related related technology. </li><li>Responsibilities may range from mechanical design, including CAD and FEA, to electromagnetic simulation, hardware prototyping, and execution of cryogenic testing.</li></ul><h3>Project Assignments Examples:</h3><ul><li>High-temperature superconducting magnet engineering, manufacturing, and testing</li><li>Cryogenic and vacuum systems</li><li>Instrumentation and diagnostic systems</li><li>Electrical and control systems engineering</li><li>Mechanical engineering</li><li>Various modeling, simulation, and data analysis roles including but not limited to COMSOL, ANSYS, Python, C++, MATLAB, Simulink, Microsoft Visio, LabVIEW</li></ul><h3>Ideal Skills:</h3><ul><li>Enrolled in a STEM undergraduate or graduate program (mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, etc.)</li><li>Interest in clean and sustainable energy to combat climate change</li><li>Hands-on or computational experience through academic research, club projects, hackathons, or industry internships</li><li>Highly self-motivated, independent, and driven to solve problems</li><li>Authorized to work in the US</li><li>Willingness to learn new things!</li><li>Compensation: $18-25/hr Undergraduate and $26-30/hr Post-grad</li></ul><br><div>It’s not necessary to meet all of the skillsets outlined above. <p>Thea Energy (formerly Princeton Stellarators) was founded in 2022 with a focus on leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster, simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. Thea Energy is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils and replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other proposed stellarator architectures. Stellarators are inherently steady-state, stable magnetic configurations that eliminate potential disruptions, making it an optimal pilot plant architecture. Thea Energy is building off foundational research and technology development that it spun out of Princeton University and Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, where the stellarator was first imagined in 1951. Thea Energy's proprietary breakthroughs have now enabled systems to be simpler and more practical than previously possible resulting in a system design that can scale to long-term commercial system operation and maintenance.​</p>
