Position SummaryGFL Environmental Services is currently seeking a Business Analyst to join our growing Edmonton team. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate, or an early-career professional looking to build experience, expand their skill set, and grow within a dynamic and collaborative organization.As a Business Analyst, you’ll play a key role at the intersection of Finance, IT, and Operations, supporting strategic decision-making and continuous process improvement. You’ll use a data-driven approach to identify insights, recommend best practices, and help implement meaningful change across GFL’s expanding business.Specific Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Use available data sources and tools to answer business questions, modeling scenarios, and developing metrics and KPI’s.</li><li>Compare and contrast performance data between lines of business and report on trends.</li><li>Observe and document data management processes. Plan process improvements and translate these into system change requirements.</li><li>Maintain prototype reports during initial business review and support finalization of requirements for permanent reports.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>University degree in engineering, finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, or a similar discipline.</li><li>1–3 years of relevant experience in a business analyst or similar data-focused role.</li><li>Experience in modeling large data sets, performing data manipulation, and designing key performance indicators (KPIs).</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools.</li><li>Experience with VBA programming is an asset.</li><li>Familiarity with SQL and Cognos is considered an asset.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities<ul><li>Fundamental understanding of statistical concepts and data aggregation techniques.</li><li>Analytical mindset and the ability to define solutions to abstract problems, test solutions, and apply critical thinking.</li><li>Team player that readily adapts to rapid changes in priorities and assignments.</li><li>Strong business acumen and the ability to build trusted relationships with business leaders.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.</li><li>Proven ability to work cross-functionally with business units, IT teams, and project stakeholders to gather requirements and drive outcomes.</li><li>Self-starter who thrives in evolving environments, adapts quickly to change, and proactively seeks continuous improvement.</li><li>High level of accuracy and precision in data handling, documentation, and reporting.</li></ul>  We thank you for your interest.
