What is MiQ? 

MiQ is an independent, not-for-profit foundation facilitating a rapid reduction in methane emissions from the Oil & Gas sector. MiQ has developed a unique Standard for methane emissions accounting through the full natural gas supply chain. The standard differentiates each gas molecule by its methane intensity.  MiQ pairs this robust, technical standard with a credible registry to generate, trade and retire emissions certificates. MiQ’s theory of change is that differentiated products will lead to differentiated pricing and emissions reduction as corporates strive for higher norms.  

Core Responsibilities 

  • Develop analytics and insights into the sources of methane and carbon dioxide emissions from the Oil & Gas supply chain 

  • Assist in developing operational and MRV (Measurement, Reporting and Verification) protocols for reducing GHG emissions 

  • Analyze recent developments in emissions research, technology development and air regulatory updates 

  • Lead the development and improvement of the MiQ standards

  • Support auditors and Oil & Gas operators through MiQ certification and compliance processes 

  • Assist in developing and conducting training sessions for MiQ auditors 

  • Provide technical expertise on emissions monitoring technologies, greenhouse gas inventory calculations, and process engineering from the Oil & Gas lifecycle 

  • Carry out GHG emission modeling and quantitative analysis to provide actionable insight 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelors or master's level degree in an applicable field such as engineering, environmental or physical sciences.  

  • 2-5 years relevant work experience in Oil & Gas industry, other energy industry, energy, or environmental consulting, OR equivalent in advanced degree. (Role of Associate or Sr Associate will be concomitant with experience) 

  • Demonstrated experience with lifecycle analysis methods 

  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to collaborate simultaneously with numerous external parties 

  • Driven self-starter, entrepreneurial, demonstrates initiative and creativity, and embraces ambiguity while problem-solving 

  • Strong problem-solving, research and writing skilss 

Location 

Positions are available for remote work, or you are welcome to work from one of RMI’s US (United States) office locations. Flexible work week options available. 

Compensation 

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
