Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer will bring deep electrical design knowledge and product development expertise to Dandelion’s efforts to advance the state of the art in residential geothermal heat pumps. This person will be responsible for developing, prototyping, and productizing the electrical design of new heat pump products to serve new customer segments, with a focus on designs that lead to high quality, low cost geothermal heat pumps that are simple to install in homes. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with our Product Development Engineer, Thermal Systems Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and Firmware Engineer to bring the most promising heat pump concepts to market.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical engineering efforts; guide the team to meet the product design requirements
  • Electrical control board design

  • Main system electrical/power design

  • Design for and support compliance testing

  • Use ECAD tools for generation of schematics and electrical BOMs for boards as well as panel assemblies

  • Work directly in a lab environment, validating designs and testing prototypes

  • Support transition of designs to our external manufacturing partner

  • Work effectively on a small, cross-functional team

    • Integrate easily with cross-functional disciplines (electrical, software, thermal)

    • Work flexibly in a small team environment

About You:

  • Expertise in the power / electrical design of refrigeration or heating appliances

  • Experience with on-board sensors and their programming, especially in service of temperature control

  • Controller Software development

  • Sensor and signal conditioning circuits

  • Design for Testing/Design for Service (DF*) skills

  • Household building electrical safety codes and requirements (NFPA, UL)
