ABOUT THIS ROLEThe Digital Content Editor is vital in supporting the creation, editing and project management of digital content across the Institute’s main digital channels and newsletters. They are the editor and project coordinator who is responsible for managing the editorial workflows and coordinating with programs to meet deadlines. They maintain strong writing, editing, and project management skills; and an understanding of digital platforms and content strategy. This is a highly collaborative role that works with multiple teams to gather information and ensure all content meets the Institute’s brand guidelines. This role reports directly to the Director, Content Strategy, Communications &amp; Marketing. The salary range for this role is $64,000 - $74,800. The expectation is for this role to be in our DC office a minimum of 2x a week to collaborate with colleagues. WHAT YOU WILL DOProject Management<ul> <li>Manage enterprise content workflows to ensure timely project delivery</li> <li>Use agile project management tools (e.g., Airtable, Monday.com etc.) to plan and execute projects.</li></ul> Content Creation, Curation &amp; Editing<ul> <li>Partner with Communications staff and Aspen Institute programs to create, edit and share engaging content for the Institute’s main digital channels, across web, social media, video, and email newsletters.</li> <li>Manage the team content calendar.</li> <li>Write and edit the Aspen Institute newsletters, website copy, and blog content.</li> <li>Create and edit social graphics.</li> <li>Optimize web content for search engines to help drive organic traffic.</li> <li>Ensure content meets organizational standards, accuracy and adheres to brand voice.</li></ul> Digital Content Strategy<ul> <li>Work collaboratively with the Content Strategy Director and Digital Content Associate to integrate editorial efforts across all digital channels.</li> <li>Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in email marketing.</li> <li>Be a source of expertise and guidance for others.</li> <li>Manage editorial content calendars</li> <li>Create engaging content for major social media platforms to drive audience interaction and community engagement.</li> <li>Monitor and respond to user feedback and comments on digital content.</li> <li>Find new ways to use social media and the Institute's website to engage with target audiences.</li></ul> Brand Voice and Guidelines<ul> <li>Maintain a consistent brand voice in all digital content, aligning with the Institute’s brand guidelines.</li></ul> Data Analysis and Optimization<ul> <li>Monitor newsletter, email and web performance metrics to improve engagement.</li> <li>Partner with the audience insights specialist to proactively find audience opportunities in the data.</li></ul> Collaboration and Communication<ul> <li>Collaborate with peers on the Communications team to ensure the content strategy aligns with our larger editorial priorities and goals.</li> <li>Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders, including the Institute’s 100+ communications staffers for 75+ programs and projects, to ensure seamless integration across multiple channels.</li></ul> WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO THRIVE<ul> <li>4-6 years in project management, digital content editing, and workflow management.</li> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or related field a plus</li> <li>Excellent writer with strong editing and proofreading skills for concise and compelling online content.</li> <li>Strong project management skills with exceptional planning, organization, and time management.</li> <li>Demonstrated understanding of digital marketing principles and content strategy.</li> <li>Ability to identify and solve problems related to content creation and project management.</li> <li>Experience editing and managing newsletters (Marketing Cloud experience is a plus).</li> <li>Demonstrated experience creating content calendars and implementing strategies.</li> <li>Comfortability and experience creating graphics with Canva or a similar tool, including within templates and original graphics.</li> <li>Experience managing social media, including Twitter/X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube; Experience using social CMS platforms such as Sprout.</li> <li>Experience managing a website.</li> <li>Experience interpreting and reporting analytics for reporting to team members and leadership.</li> <li>Ability to thrive while multitasking and working in a deadline driven dynamic environment.</li> <li>Strong emotional intelligence and experience guiding stakeholders through complex project processes with clear and proactive communication.</li> <li>Demonstrated understanding of digital audiences and online content trends.</li> <li>Strong communication skills for teamwork and stakeholder collaboration, along with curiosity, empathy, hustle, and grit.</li></ul> ADDITIONAL INFORMATION The Aspen Institute offers a generous benefits package including health, dental, vision, and prescription benefits, retirement benefits, and paid leave.
