The Quality Technician will write reports and gather data not expected of assembly team members, communicate customer expectations, and confirm all functional testing has been completed and documented per JLG test procedures; verify the operational stability of all new product during startup and report out on the performance to engineering and Top Management.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.<ul><li>Navigate the computer system programs utilized by department to develop and report on the quality of the process: MDS, EQC, LIRS, AS-400, QMS; articulate quality data and report to all levels of the business the current status of quality.</li><li>Review of finished products for visual and functional issues prior to release and delivery to customer; work upstream in the process to problem solve issues found during audit and implement corrective action to prevent further issues.</li><li>Understand how to interpret assembly, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic, prints and schematics; use inspection hand tools (go / no go, thread gauges, calipers, tape) to verify compliance.</li><li>Understand the expectations of paint quality utilizing the A-B-C surface method and use basic paint inspection tools such as: surface finish gauge, thickness gauge, evaluate paint finish</li><li>Verify that all items and/or assemblies manufactured comply with Engineering and Quality Control specifications, through all phases of the manufacturing process.</li><li>Solve complex issues that drive customer satisfaction down; demonstrate the 8D tools (5 whys, is/ is not, fishbone, etc.) in order to properly and completely solve the problem and drive continuous improvement</li><li>Understand basic weld symbols, their meaning and usage on a blueprint/drawing; be able to perform inspection for weld compliance using size weld gages, liquid penetrant, and magnetic particle.</li><li>Ensure tools used by production are following calibration procedures and identify tool compliance and follow process if tools are found that are not in compliance of QMS.</li><li>Partner with Supervisor and production team to provide exemplary customer service including process control and quality service while communicating quality updates/changes effectively to production.</li></ul>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:   <ul><li>One (1) or more years of relevant experience.</li><li>Basic understanding of the theory and purpose of the calibration process.</li><li>Ability to travel 10%.</li></ul>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  <ul><li>American Society for Quality Certification program(s).</li><li>Experience with quality systems (ISO9001, TS16949, AS9001).</li></ul>WORKING CONDITIONS: <ul><li>Physical Demands: Frequent Hearing, Talking, Visual, Standing, Walking/Running, Reaching, Bending/Kneeling, Typing, Manual Dexterity; Occasional Sitting, Climbing, Driving, Upper Extremity Repetitive Motion, Lifting/Carrying up to 35lbs., Pushing/Pulling up to 30lbs.; Seldom Fine Dexterity.</li><li>Non-Physical Demands: Frequent Analysis/Reasoning, Communication/Interpretation, Math/Mental Computation, Reading, Sustained Mental Activity (i.e., auditing, problem solving, grant writing, composing reports, etc.), and Writing.</li><li>Environmental Demands: Frequent Work Alone, Task Changes, Tedious/Exacting Work, Temperature Extremes; Occasional High Volume Public Contact, Dust, Loud Noises; Seldom Physical Danger, Toxic Substances (i.e., solvents, pesticides, etc.).</li><li>Work Schedule: Considerable irregularity of hours due to frequent overtime, weekend or shift rotation.</li><li>Demands/Deadlines: Occasional stress due to deadlines or workload because of intermittent or cyclical work pressures, or occasional exposure to distressed individuals within the immediate work environment.</li></ul>Oshkosh is committed to working with and offering reasonable accommodations to job applicants with disabilities.
