About the role: 

Cruise is looking for an outstanding Manager, Analytics and Tools to help bring-up and test our next generation vehicles and sensors as well as contribute positively to our testing culture by developing sustainable and scalable test processes and methods. In this position, you will work on a multidisciplinary team and work with various stakeholders in order to gather test requirements to complete robust and thorough testing on fast-paced timelines.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage a team of engineers in the development and operation of test automation tools.
  • Work with product owners to prioritize the execution of different efforts to develop automation tools for sensor control, data collection and analysis.
  • Write software tools to automate testing and measurement of hardware interfaces from prototypes to production.
  • Maintain and develop several test automation tool codebases.
  • Continuously improve software tool development methodology.
  • Build up and execute tests while working across multiple teams.
  • Support and/or drive root cause analysis for failures.
  • Gather requirements from various stakeholders and deliver robust test data around those requirements.
  • Serve as technical advisor to junior team members and/or cross-functional team members on test software tools and usage.

What you must have:

  • B.Sc. in Electrical, Optical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 2+ years experience of test development in electronics, automotive, aerospace or related industries.
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems and comfortable with terminals.
  • Experience developing, using, or otherwise managing software tools for sensor hardware testing
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose in both system and component level environments.
  • Strong understanding of Python.
  • Strong understanding and use of JIRA
  • Familiarity with version control flows and best practices.
  • Familiarity with the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) processes.
  • Familiarity with Scrum processes.
  • 1-2 years leading cross functional projects, including coordination of technical resources(e.g. direct reports or multidisciplinary team coordination)

Bonus Points!

  • Strong understanding of C/C++, MATLAB, SQL, and/or bash scripting.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflow and tools like BuildKite, CircleCI or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with Artifactory.
  • Familiar with Cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Azure.
  • Scrum master certification.
  • Project planning experience
  • Familiarity with Container technology.
  • Previous experience in the automotive industry.
  • Experience calibrating/validating/Integrating camera, lidar, radar, or other sensors.
  • M.Sc./Ph.D. in Electrical, Optical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Familiarity with electronic instrument control and communications (GPIB, Visa, RS232).
  • Familiarity with actuator control.
