What you’ll be doing:

Planning

  • Partner with Program Office to define the strategy and roadmap for new autonomous vehicle features
  • Identify risks for new programs and work multi-functionally to develop mitigations and countermeasures
  • Define acceptance criteria for gate reviews to communicate major results and decisions such as design reviews, verification strategy, and launch readiness reviews by our executive team
  • Assist with hiring the best talent for Systems Engineering to raise the performance bar

 

Execution

  • Formulate a CONOPS (Concept of Operations), the narrative that provides a unifying vision of the Autonomous Vehicle workflows
  • Work cross-functionally with GM and Cruise engineers to define technical requirements and validation strategies to meet operational goals and business objectives
  • Empower Systems Engineers on the team, acting as a mentor as needed
  • Proactively educate new and existing team members on new program and technical matters

 

Technical

  • Principal technical contact for systems engineering on the program, being the go-to source for Cruise Systems Engineering requirements and technical strategy
  • Decompose multi-faceted engineering challenges into clear and measurable risks and achieve consensus for team recommendations
  • Balance technical and analytical insights with intuition to formulate resource allocation strategies while adjusting quickly to new information
  • Develop testing strategies for the program to demonstrate critical integration and feature performance as part of gating reviews

 

What you must have:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or another relevant field
  • 7-10+ years of industry experience in implementing complex and safety-critical systems
  • Experience taking requirements from R&D and design to shipping and large-scale production
  • Strong technical and nontechnical communication skills across a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
  • Ability to adapt and operate under ambiguity

 

Bonus Points!

  • Experience with robotics or autonomous vehicles
  • Experience with customer facing product design projects
  • Knowledge of distributed systems & software architectures for automotive designs, their multiple abstraction layers, and their interdependencies
  • Experience with requirements management tools (Jama, DNG, DOORS, etc.)
