About the Infrastructure Development team:

We are uniquely responsible for driving the end to end process for securing all the operating infrastructure vital to enable Cruise’s scaling ambitions of deploying 1M autonomous vehicles on the road by 2030. We are the first team to enter new markets - our ability to craft and execute sets the stage for mapping and then large scale deployment of our autonomous vehicles commencing commercial operations in a given market. We create the optimal infrastructure strategy for each market based on local nuances and opportunities, analyze the costs/benefits of different approaches, make recommendations to our senior leadership, and then implement those strategies in each market on the lead time required to hit key business milestones. Our work combines high level strategy, financial analysis, business development, negotiation, and execution.

About the Strategy & Portfolio Management team:

Within Infrastructure Development, the Strategy & Portfolio Management is a key team responsible for establishing the foundational strategy to design our operational infrastructure portfolio in every market, and ensuring the portfolio of sites achieve Cruise’s strategic and financial objectives. Our team deeply understands how portfolios of different operating infrastructure can drive value to maximize Cruise’s ability to operate a fleet efficiently and enable best service to ridehail and delivery customers. You will be one of the first members of this newly formed team that has a direct impact on the commercial success of our ridehail and delivery businesses.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop the overall strategy & design of Cruise’s massive portfolio of operational infrastructure that impacts every aspect of our commercial operations, such as charging, parking, and vehicle maintenance - for every market Cruise enters
  • Design tools and models to enable data based decision makings, on topics such as how we should design our geographical network of of chargers across the market
  • Structure and evaluate deals to determine which sites should be included in Cruise’s portfolio
  • Support the Infrastructure Partnership team’s negotiations with various external partners
  • Develop the case for why Cruise should invest in each infrastructure solution / specific site. You will drive the internal approval through financial and strategic assessments, including pitching the recommendations to senior leadership

What you must have:

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, investment banking, real estate investing, or similar fields
  • Strong financial analytical skills and problem solving ability - Must be comfortable with excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity and learning mindset, with a passion for tackling new and undefined problems

Bonus Points!

  • Experience/ and or subject matter expertise in relevant industries (such as EV charging, infrastructure deployment, evaluating infrastructure deals)
  • Undergraduate degree in finance or analytics
  • R, Python, and other analytical tools
