We are looking for experienced software engineers to design and develop maintainable, extensible and scalable software solutions and frameworks to drive development of the Planning and Controls software stack. This team owns the SW architecture as well as tools and frameworks to accelerate development and testing of algorithms, improving diagnostics coverage, and facilitating data analysis and requirements validation for Planning and Controls team. As a member of this team you will improve productivity across the organization by building automation tools and shared libraries that will be used across engineering teams.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Accelerate team’s effectiveness and efficiency by designing and implementing scalable automation tools for test creation, data collection and analysis, debugging, and performance monitoring
  • Own the SW architecture of the Planning and Controls Stack and work closely with domain experts in creating an efficient and performant framework for implementing Controls and Planning algorithms that control the AV
  • Design and implement extensible and well-tested shared libraries that will be used by many engineers across the organization
  • Design and implement spoofers and test tools for characterizing system and subsystem performance
  • Work with domain engineers in Planning and Controls to identify problems of development and testing. Collaborate with Frameworks and Data Infra teams to build and deploy tools to improve productivity.

What you must have:

  • Experience developing scalable software solutions that will be used by a dozen developers
  • Experience developing automation scripts (Python and Bash scripts)
  • Experience writing C++ in a production environment (unit testing, code review, algorithm performance and tradeoffs, etc.)
  • BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering and 3+ years of industry experience
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Bonus points!

  • Familiarity with ROS, numpy & scipy, Python bindings for C++, and plotting/visualization libraries
  • Experience in code optimization or high performance computing
  • Experience with time-series data analysis and online performance monitoring tools
