AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Resident Engineer for immediate employment in Orange County, California. The Resident Engineer (RE) will be responsible for the effective administration of the construction contracts and will interact closely with the Construction Manager (CM) and the Owner. The RE is the primary point of contact to the construction Contractor and serves in this lead role being responsible to the Owner in providing the necessary coordination with Construction Contractors, Project Engineers, Inspectors, the Owner, and other agencies. The RE will have the primary responsibility for quality assurance of the construction. Chair Preconstruction Meetings with the Contractor, Subcontractors, Project Design Engineer, and the Owner.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:<ul><li>Providing a cursory review of Contractor submittals for completeness and compliance with the specification requirements while monitoring the Submittal and RFI review process</li><li>Process or facilitate all communications between the Contractor, Owner, Project Design Engineer, and the Program Manager.</li><li>Respond to Contractor letters of correspondence providing interpretation of contract drawings and specifications to resolve problems or conflicts arising on site.</li><li>Participate in the review and evaluation of contractor claims and change order proposals.</li><li>Issue all Engineering or Client-initiated changes or clarifications of the contract documents to the Contractor and decide as to the magnitude and impact of same to the progression of work.</li><li>Identify potential or actual problems in the Contractor’s construction schedule, performance/quality of work and take actions as necessary to mitigate, correct or resolve them.</li><li>Track job progress and document all aspects of the daily performance of work.</li><li>Coordinate on a daily basis all Contractor requested outages, road closures, work permits or other activities impacting the Plant with the Owner.</li><li>Track progress, quality of work, materials and equipment received and/or installed being incorporated into the work.</li><li>Monitor Contractor’s compliance with environmental requirements for control of storm water and airborne emissions / particulate matter throughout the course of construction.</li><li>Serve in oversight of final inspections, preparation of punchlist and final determination as to the completeness and acceptability of the Work.</li></ul>
