As our Senior Software Integration Engineer, Mapping Vehicle Platform, you will collaborate to design, develop, validate, and scale systems to enable generation of high precision AV maps worldwide! Working on a small and agile team, you will own electrical and software integration of various sensors and compute systems that comprise our new mapping vehicle platform. You will need an aptitude to learn what your immediate responsibilities are as well as how they tie into broader team and company goals.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

• Work with cross-functional stakeholders to develop system requirements
• Develop mapping platform architectures incorporating sensors (cameras, lidars, GNSS, and IMUs), compute systems, and ancillary support subsystems (e.g. networking, timing, mass storage)
• Develop drivers to integrate various sensors and subsystems into the overall mapping platform
• Build functional user interfaces leveraging e.g. tkinter, ROS/webviz, web interfaces, etc. to allow non-technical users to collect and view mapping data and system status in real time
• Develop standard operating procedures to allow technicians and operators to effectively utilize the mapping platform in the field
• Drive system testing and validation to ensure we can scale map data collection operations across many cities simultaneously
• Support and/or drive root cause analysis for failures
• Serve as technical advisor to junior team members and/or cross-functional team members

You should apply for this role if you have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field (e.g. Electrical, Software, Computer, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Physics, etc.) or equivalent experience
• 3+ years experience integrating electromechanical systems utilizing a combination of off the shelf hardware and custom components
• Working knowledge of Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems and comfortable with terminal interfaces
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose in both system and component level environments
• Strong understanding of Python
• Familiarity with git and GitHub workflows

Bonus Points!

• Strong understanding of C/C++, MATLAB, and/or bash scripting
• Familiarity with user interface creation using tools like Tkinter, ROS/Rviz/Webviz, web apps, etc.
• Familiarity with Cloud technologies such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Azure
• Experience calibrating or validating camera, lidar, radar, GNSS, IMU, or other sensors, especially for robots or autonomous vehicles
• MS in a related technical field
