We’re looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager (TPM) to coordinate and help drive development of major technical initiatives and overall safety of the Cruise autonomous transportation service. TPMs are responsible for the “when” and the “how” of the program, and hold their teams accountable to deliver on engineering and operations projects to achieve business objectives. In this role, you will collaborate with partners through initiatives at the intersection of hardware, software, AV technology, operations, and product.

Planning

  • Develop project roadmaps and delivery plans that align with internal customer needs and major company initiatives
  • Define success criteria, set up clear project objectives, and identify technical dependencies
  • Drive agile planning frameworks that allow flexibility while improving efficiency
  • Work with team leads to ensure teams balance between strategic initiatives, iterative improvements, and proactive engineering excellence investments

Execution

  • Create mechanism to track and report on project progress
  • Build trusted relationships with partner teams to continuously optimize efficiency and collaboration
  • Create, organize, and maintain relevant project documentation
  • Conduct periodic retrospectives to improve performance and celebrate wins; continuously assess and improve processes and tools

What you must have:

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or another related engineering field
  • 5+ years of demonstrable, hands on cross functional program management experience with complex technology products
  • Experience in systems safety, systems engineering, or other related fields
  • Track record of building consensus and driving execution in cross-functional projects
  • Knowledge of product development or systems engineering life cycle, requirements development and decomposition, and system validation
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Ability to operate under ambiguity and adapt to changing environment and requirements
  • Strong technical and nontechnical communication skills
  • Proficient with Agile methodologies and practices; Knowledge of both Agile and waterfall project management techniques
  • Passionate about self-driving car technology and its impact on the world

Bonus Points!

  • Experience with robotics or autonomous vehicles
  • Experience with safety critical development (FDA, FAA, Automotive, Aerospace)
  • Familiarity with ISO/PAS 21448, ISO-26262, or IEC-62304
  • Experience using Confluence, Smartsheet, JIRA, PLM, Jama
  • PMP, CSM, CSPO certifications
