What you’ll be doing:

  • Develop a deep understanding of Cruise's SMS, safety objectives and Safety Performance Indicators (SPI’s) as the core representative of SMS for the departments you support.
  • Primary Program Manager in for the AV BehaviorRisk Working Group for Safety Concerns, Findings, Safety Risk Assessments (SRA’s) and Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs)
  • Supports and develops domain-specific safety liaisons to best use subject matter expertise as we strive for the most accurate and up to date safety picture possible. This includes primarily interfacing with perception, prediction, motion planning and controls, and systems teams.
  • Monitor safety data for trends through periodic structured and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Send reports on safety issues and trends to risk working groups and our executives for the domains you support including updates to risk levels for future expansions.
  • Facilitates SRA’s within covered domain(s), lending technical support, organization and improving quality of work products
  • Brief and Coordinate with process owners to produce a report-out to the executive leadership team (safety council) of key initiatives and metrics

What you must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical degree and 5+ years work experience
  •       Experience with identifying and managing safety risks in a safety critical product, service or   program
  • Hands-on experience with Program Management tools in safety critical software development / lifecycle management (preferably  Atlassian tools such as JIRA and Smartsheets)
  • Proficiency in extracting insights from and applying expert-provided data in the form of quantitative risk assessments, reliability analysis, and/or statistical data analysis
  • Excellent judgment and ability to remain unbiased and independent throughout all safety activities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, must be a natural coalition builder with excellent time and meeting agenda leadership skills

Bonus points!

  • M.S. or advanced studies in a technical field
  • Expertise in safety analysis for autonomous vehicles or similar industry
  • Experience in evaluating and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with product safety or safety case argumentation
  • Experience within an operating SMS in a transportation or engineering industry
  • Experience with data analysis, dashboarding, metrics reporting
