We need a hands-on, proactive Staff Engineering Lab Technician who can perform under the microscope modifications for circuit board assemblies such as component rework, soldering and de-soldering of components. This person must be able to read electrical schematics, trouble shoot board level issues, trouble shoot, and root cause assembly issues. They will work closely with other teams to setup work areas within the lab and provide support needed. They will help develop and validate testing of automotive electronic components such as sensors and cameras. This person must keep the lab clean, and safe. S/he should procure components and equipment as needed, and coordinate to send equipment for calibration when necessary.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support development and validation testing of automotive electronic components
  • Functional acceptance testing of circuit board assemblies and electronic units following defined test procedures
  • Troubleshoot, root cause and document electronic assembly issues
  • Perform printed circuit board assembly modifications such as component rework, soldering/de-soldering of electronic components, etc.
  • Procure necessary tools, equipment and components for prototype builds
  • Setup and use standard test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies and digital multimeters with no direction
  • Direct hands-on approach: proactively identifies and fills in gaps where needed

What you must have:

  • 7+ years of experience with soldering, handling lab equipment & board re-work
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and use manufacturers’ product data sheets
  • Experience with assembling prototype circuitry to engineering instructions, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components
  • Experience with Lab and test networking test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Spirent or IXIA, and Logic Analyzer
  • A strong understanding and experience in prototype and fabrication shop processes
  • Able to solder/de-solder at a component level skill
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills
  • Comfortable using Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides
