The Research & Insights team focuses on experiences that serve Cruise’s target customer as well as internal teams at Cruise. We work closely with designers and other cross-functional teams to provide insights that will lay the foundation for an AV ride-sharing experience. As a part of this team, you will have a critical role in shaping the Cruise experience and the impact it will have on the transportation and automotive industries that have shaped our way of living.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with product managers, design managers, engineering managers, and researchers to co-create Cruise’s high-level developer productivity strategy that informs the company’s key investments
  • Contribute useful and timely insights to Cruise’s developer productivity programs, including advising colleagues or supporting your team to run end-to-end studies that deliver design requirements on developer workflows and tooling.
  • Understand and translate complex technical and business needs into innovative research approaches & deliverables that inform and inspire action in a highly technical organization
  • Coach your team to design clear and compelling presentations and written reports that articulate key insights, practical recommendations, strategic relevance, and product impact
  • Champion broad organizational understanding of developer needs through advocacy, collaboration, and storytelling
  • Drive the development of your team and support individual members’ careers
  • Help build our design and research culture
  • Roll up your sleeves and contribute wherever needed

What you must have:

  • 5+ years experience working in user experience (using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies), delivering measurable impact
  • 2+ years managing teams of high-quality research talent
  • Extraordinary skills in both written and spoken communication to influence partners and major company decisions
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale projects across a diverse set of stakeholders and ambiguous problem spaces

Bonus Points!

  • M.A./M.S. or PhD in Human Factors, Computer Science, or other related field
  • Demonstrated experience studying work practices, development workflows, internal tooling, or internal processes of software engineering teams
  • Portfolio of research project work demonstrating product impact to engineering process and tooling
