AMP Robotics is hiring a Hardware Test Engineer reporting to the Manager of Engineering QA to focus on determining the reliability of our designs, components and systems.  Additionally you will be tasked with supporting both functional and performance verification and validation efforts.  You will be encouraged to initiate improvements related to our quality processes.  You will work side by side with your hardware design peers to ensure the team delivers the best quality release possible.  You will develop and execute test procedures along with designing and building the requisite test fixtures to support that endeavor.  You will provide succinct and meaningful reports that improve outcomes.  Your intuition, technical expertise, input and experience will be wanted by your manager.

To succeed in this role you should be highly organized and methodical in how you approach your work.  It is imperative that you have a broad technical understanding of the hardware development process and a willingness to learn on the job.  You will be measured, first and foremost, by how well you collaborate with your peers and ultimately the level of rigor and application you bring to each and every assignment.

As our Hardware Test Engineer, you will:

  • Work closely with design teams to determine or predict component and system life to ensure product reliability.
  • Develop component/system level reliability test plans, procedures, and reports. 
  • Determine acceleration factors to use with HALT/HASS testing.
  • Analyze failure data and author defect reports to drive product reliability improvement.
  • Coordinate with external labs to conduct testing and analysis when necessary.
  • Facilitate or participate in DFMEA of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Support and contribute to functional and performance testing efforts as needed.

The successful candidate will have:

Required:

  • Five years (+) of related test and verification work experience.
  • Passion for quality, reliability, verification and validation.
  • Expertise with Reliability and Environmental testing.
  • Expertise in electro-mechanical hardware testing (temperature, humidity, vibration, voltage, current).
  • Expertise with Hazard Analysis and DFMEA.
  • Hands-on experience with sensors (pressure, flow, strain, load cell, temperature, accelerometers), and operation of environmental, electrical, and mechanical stress test equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with Data Acquisition (DAQ) hardware and associated software tools/packages.
  • Cooperative, imaginative and open minded for problem solving.

Preferred: 

  • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience designing/building test fixtures:
    • Machine shop competency.
    • Soldering and wiring.
  • Familiarity with mechanical structures and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with CAD (e.g. Solidworks, Creo, Inventor).

Bonus:

  • Familiarity with statistical methods (e.g. Six Sigma, Gauge R&R).
  • Exposure to ISO or working within a regulated environment.

Education:

  • BS Degree (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering).

Experience: 

  • Five years (+) of related test and verification work experience.

Salary & compensation information: $75,000-$114,000

Benefits information:

Full-Time / Salaried Employees

  • Medical - The company covers up to 85% of the premium of UHC Gold Choice Plus POS 1250 BP9K. Employees pay the difference in premium if they select a more expensive plan. Up to 25% for dependents. 
  • Group Life, AD&D – 100% paid.
  • Long Term Disability – 100% paid.
  • Dental Insurance – 75% paid. 
  • Vision Insurance* - 75% paid. 
  • Employee Assistance Program - Provided through United Healthcare.
  • Paid Vacation Leave – Accrues at a rate of ~4.31 hours (0.54 days) per pay period (2 weeks) starting day 1. Unused PTO carries over each year with a 1-year limit.
  • Paid Sick Leave – 64 hours per year, given in full on start date, refreshes on anniversary.
  • 401(k) retirement plan - (non-matching).
  • Seven (7) paid holidays – 7 company designated and 2 floating holidays.
