This role will be responsible for leading dimensional control activities, overseeing current vehicle quality issues, managing SPC (Statistical Process Control) programs, and ensuring robust follow-up of dimensional concerns. The engineer will also be accountable for managing vendor collaboration on checking fixtures, from design through final delivery. A solid understanding of BIW (Body-in-White) assembly is essential to ensure that stamping dimensional issues are properly evaluated in the context of full vehicle build.</p><p><strong>You Will:</strong></p><ul><li>Lead <strong>dimensional analysis and issue resolution</strong> for current vehicle programs, driving corrective actions and continuous improvements.</li><li>Oversee and maintain <strong>SPC monitoring systems</strong>, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting.</li><li>Evaluate whether dimensional issues on stamped panels will propagate into <strong>BIW assembly problems</strong>.</li><li>Partner with cross-functional teams (Quality, Engineering, BIW, and Production) to resolve dimensional concerns impacting stamping panels and assemblies.</li><li>Provide <strong>vendor oversight</strong> for checking fixtures, including:<ul><li>Reviewing and approving designs.</li><li>Monitoring build progress and adherence to specifications.</li><li>Leading buy-off, tryout, and final acceptance.</li></ul></li><li>Ensure deep understanding of checking fixtures, including <strong>clamp and net positioning</strong>, and their limitations in reflecting real-world car position and vehicle assembly conditions.</li><li>Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for dimensional non-conformities.</li><li>Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians in the stamping team.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field preferred </li><li><strong>5+ years of experience</strong> in dimensional engineering, preferably within stamping or automotive OEM operations.</li><li>Strong knowledge of <strong>GD&amp;T, SPC, and metrology tools</strong> (CMM, laser scanning, checking fixtures).</li><li>Proven experience managing supplier deliverables for tooling and checking fixtures.</li><li>Solid understanding of <strong>BIW assembly</strong> and its interaction with stamping dimensional performance.</li><li>Excellent problem-solving and project management skills.</li><li>Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across internal teams and external vendors.</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred</strong></p><ul><li>Experience in automotive stamping operations.</li><li>Knowledge of ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 standards.</li><li>Familiarity with CAD systems and dimensional analysis software (e.g., CATIA, PolyWorks, CM4D).</li></ul></div><div> </div><div> </div><div>At Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it!
