You can read more about us in <a href="https://pacificfusion.com/updates/founders-letter">this letter from our founders</a>.<h1>About the Role</h1><h2>Job Overview:</h2>As Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, you will spearhead the architecture and development of Pacific Fusion’s growing cloud infrastructure for the engineering organization. This includes infrastructure supporting databases for control systems, component testing processes, and experimental data acquisition such as the necessary compute, storage, networking, and security infrastructure. You will exercise strategic judgement to rapidly meet near term needs while laying the foundations for robust and scalable systems relied upon for mission-critical services.<h2>Responsibilities:</h2><ul style=""><li>Design and implement cloud-based infrastructure to support Pacific Fusion’s control systems, hardware testing systems, application servers, and data acquisition devices</li><li>Partner with the Controls Systems Lead and other engineers to design efficient and scalable systems to meet engineering objectives</li><li>Ensure sound security postures and partner with the Security Team to automate security controls, monitoring, and response</li><li>Automate resource deployment using infrastructure as code tools such as CloudFormation and Pulumi and own CI/CD frameworks for deployment</li><li>Work closely with the HPC Cloud Infrastructure engineering team to ensure cohesive management of cloud resources and develop sharable components for monitoring and security</li><li>Anticipate future infrastructure needs in Pacific Fusion’s rapidly growing engineering efforts and tailor cloud architectures to facilitate new use cases</li></ul><h2>Qualifications:</h2><ul style=""><li>4-10 years of expertise in deploying resources on public cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, and/or Azure</li><li>Strong cloud security fundamentals covering best practices for access controls, network configurations, and automated monitoring</li><li>Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling such as CloudFormation, Pulumi, or Terraform</li><li>Competency with CI/CD workflows and tooling</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills to carefully understand system requirements and efficiently enable end users to meet business objectives</li></ul><h2>Preferred but not required:</h2><ul style=""><li>Experience working in hard tech industries such as: fusion, aerospace, EVs, energy, robotics</li><li>Experience working closely with PhD scientists and R&amp;D technology organizations</li><li>Familiarity with database systems used for quantitative data</li></ul><h2>Benefits:</h2><ul style=""><li>Industry-competitive salary</li><li>Equity plan</li><li>6% employer 401k matching</li><li>Generous paid time off (including sick leave, vacation, paid family leave)</li><li>Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance</li></ul>Actual base salary offered will be determined by: experience, skills, and work location.
