A key step on this journey is building our own battery capability in-house and that’s where you come in.As an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer (Laser Welding), you’ll take the lead on developing and qualifying welding processes for our next-generation battery packs. You’ll work at the forefront of aerospace and green technology, helping us turn prototypes into certified, production-ready systems for the VX4.What You’ll Do<ul style=""><li>Lead manufacturing engineering for laser welding processes on aluminium and copper components in EV battery packs.</li><li>Own weld requirements across the battery pack, ensuring compliance with certification and performance standards.</li><li>Create and refine welding parameters, processes, and test methods to qualify welds for aerospace use.</li><li>Collaborate with design teams to optimise components for welding and improve manufacturability.</li><li>Define and execute welding test methods to assess mechanical and electrical properties.</li><li>Lead development of Design Verification Plans for welding and manage process qualification for VX4 certification.</li><li>Optimise welding processes to improve quality, repeatability, efficiency, and minimise waste.</li><li>Own in-process quality control methods and NDT equipment to identify, rework, and reduce scrap.</li><li>Produce technical reports including weld strategies, metallurgical analysis, and performance data.</li><li>Stay up to date with the latest welding and joining technologies for lithium-ion batteries.</li></ul>What You’ll Bring<ul style=""><li>Strong background in high-volume final assembly and lean manufacturing principles, ideally with NPI (new product introduction) experience.</li><li>Hands-on expertise with laser welding equipment (Trumpf, Precitec) and proven ability to develop robust weld processes.</li><li>Experience in automotive, aerospace, or related industries, with a focus on battery pack assembly highly desirable.</li><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering or Materials Science (preferred), or equivalent hands-on experience.</li><li>Formal laser welding training (manufacturer-specific or through bodies like TWI/AWS) is a plus.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to take products from prototype to volume production.</li><li>Familiarity with aerospace quality systems, regulations, and standards is advantageous.</li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills across internal teams, external suppliers, and stakeholders.</li><li>Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.</li><li>Resilience and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.</li></ul>What can you expect from us?We're on a mission.
