This is a temporary/ contract role for 6 months with the option to extend into a permanent role as per business needs.   Position Scope and Responsibilities <ul><li>Design of electrical architectures for battery pack and BESS products, including specification, selection, and integration of components for power conversion, power distribution, safety, monitoring, and connection to external systems.  </li><li>Delivery of electrical systems that achieve functional requirements, safety certification, high-volume manufacturing readiness, cost targets, and regulatory requirements.  </li><li>Create detailed electrical and power schematics, wiring and harness diagrams, 3D wiring layouts, and BOMs using CAD and ECAD tools. </li><li>Collaborate with mechanical, electrochemical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet functional and integration requirements and DFM.</li><li>Define and execute test plans for performance and safety verification of BESS engineering samples, including energy storage performance, power flow validation, compliance with standards (ie, LV / HV isolation, insulation resistance, electrical noise, and EMC). </li><li>Support the design and integration of Battery Management Systems (BMS), control and switching components, and sensing and monitoring hardware. </li><li>Lead and contribute to design reviews, DFMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous product improvement initiatives. </li><li>Advocate and champion the engineering cycle through design improvement and integration of internal, field, and commercial testing feedback </li><li>Drive the development of electrical test fixtures, jigs, and assembly processes to support pack and BESS validation and engineering sample assembly. </li><li>Provide technical support for prototype builds, manufacturing transfer, and vendor qualification. </li><li>Ensure compliance with electrical safety and regulatory standards (e.g., UL, IEC, CE). </li></ul>Key Deliverables In the first year, this role will be a fundamental contributor to success through: <ul><li>Completing electrical design and assembly of our next generation of zinc-air cells, battery packs, and BESS unit engineering samples for field trials and commercial evaluation </li></ul><ul><li>Driving ECM and electrical engineering best practices within Product Engineering  </li></ul><ul><li>Delivering electrical engineering design reviews and release of design documentation  </li></ul><ul><li>Releasing completed electrical designs packages for Engineering Release to Manufacturing  </li></ul> Qualifications <ul><li>Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering discipline. </li></ul><ul><li>10+ years of experience in electrical design and development for energy storage, automotive, industrial, or power systems. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience with low-voltage and high-voltage DC systems, power distribution, power conversion (DC/DC), and Grid-tied / Off-grid systems or similar applications. </li></ul><ul><li>Registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) is an asset </li></ul><ul><li>Familiarity with electrical safety of low voltage and high voltage DC systems (&gt;60 VDC). </li></ul><ul><li>Experience in component selection and integration including sensors, relays, and communication interfaces (CAN, UART, Modbus, etc.). </li></ul><ul><li>Strong design, problem-solving and hands-on skills; experience in engineering, prototyping, and industrial production environments and field troubleshooting. </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of applicable standards for battery and electrical system certification (e.g., UL, IEC, CE). </li></ul>Who You Are <ul><li>Motivated self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, emerging growth environment </li></ul><ul><li>Highly disciplined, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability </li></ul><ul><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li></ul><ul><li>Professional integrity and personal effectiveness </li><li>Collaborative and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset </li><li>Passion for innovation and contributing to a better future </li></ul>Why Join e-Zinc? At e-Zinc, your work has purpose.
