This role spans the entire product lifecycle from concept and prototyping through manufacturing release and provides technical expertise for both new product development and field support. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders to deliver innovative, reliable, and customer-focused solutions.Core Responsibilities:<ul><li>Lead the design, testing, and validation of monitoring and control products, including smart pumping systems and IoT solutions.</li><li>Develop and implement engineering validation and production test specifications.</li><li>Support all stages of product development: concept, prototyping, testing, manufacturing readiness, and release.</li><li>Perform system-level troubleshooting using hardware and software tools.</li><li>Translate customer requirements (Voice of Customer) into technical specifications and test plans.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and channel partners to resolve technical and field issues.</li><li>Provide product engineering support for field problem resolution and recommend design improvements.</li><li>Travel to customer sites (~10%) for evaluation, troubleshooting, and technical support.</li><li>Contribute to cross-functional teams to align with Xylem’s vision and achieve project objectives.</li></ul>Required Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.</li><li>5+ years of experience in IoT software/hardware development with a strong background in control systems.</li><li>Proven expertise in product testing and validation methodologies.</li><li>Experience working in Agile development environments.</li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Proficiency in C, C++, Visual Studio, and PLC programming.</li><li>Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, DeviceNet, TCP/IP, and Zigbee.</li><li>Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and IoT protocols (MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, CoAP).</li><li>Hands-on experience with analog/digital design, embedded processors, and VFD/motor control.</li><li>Familiarity with industry standards (UL, CSA, FM, FCC).</li><li>Background in the electromechanical or industrial automation industry.</li></ul>Work Environment &amp; Physical Demands<ul><li>Primarily office and lab-based work with occasional travel to customer sites.</li><li>Travel requirement: approximately 10% (primarily within the USA and Canada).</li></ul>Join the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
