GFL Environmental is looking for a Cash Application Associate to join our team out of our Southfield office. The Cash Application Associate will work alongside the Cash Application Team to post varieties of payments accurately and efficiently.  Cash Application Associate  The Cash Application Associate will handle the research, application and necessary corrections of all payments received by GFL alongside the cash application team. This encompasses check, lockbox, ACH, credit card and other payment types. They will record and maintain logs ensuring organization and efficiency across the team.  Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Accurately post incoming payments (check, ACH, Lockbox) to customer accounts within 24hr timeframe</li><li>Prepare, log and maintain records and reports of deposits, processed payments, adjustments and corrections</li><li>Review and locate customer account numbers for payments received without remittance information</li><li>Deposit paper checks into bank via remote deposit scanner</li><li>Download reports and conduct research of online payments within various banks</li><li>Assist customer service by researching, locating and remedying customer’s misapplied payments</li><li>Analyze, reconcile and resolve accounting discrepancies in cash application batches</li><li>Verify accuracy and validity of request for refunds and updated customer accounts accordingly</li></ul>Requirements:<ul><li>High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required</li><li>Accounting Associates degree preferred</li><li>2+ years of experience working in accounting or with high volume applications of payments received via various means</li><li>Strong math skills are a must with the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages</li><li>Ability to solve problem and think critically</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li><li>Ability to read and interpret documents/ instructions and procedure manuals, compose memos, reports and correspondence is required</li><li>Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form</li><li>Ability to accurately produce and excel in a fast-paced ever-changing environment maintaining very high degree of accuracy and speed</li><li>Excellent organizational skills, ability to quickly prioritize and readjust prioritization as necessary.</li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Office-Outlook, Word and Excel</li></ul>  We thank you for your interest.
