The Steam Turbine Engineer is responsible for being the technical conscience of the fleet through the application of mechanical engineering principles and leveraging analytics to create data driven solutions.  The Lead Engineer is at the specialist level of the Engineering classification hierarchy. Employees at this level are leaders. They solve complex problems, manage work, and develop innovative ways to streamline process. Lead engineers are trusted to complete tasks with minimal supervision and increased latitude for un-reviewed work. They are also expected to have a fleet level impact while being responsible for assets in the Midwest region.Responsibilities<ul><li>TGS Steam Turbine Engineers provide expertise and guidance on the identification, analysis and resolution of complex problems in area of Steam Turbines and the supporting systems, with the ability to visualize long-term impact on a system-wide basis.</li><li>ST Engineers develop positive relationships and coordinate with many organizations and individuals to ensure major maintenance is prioritized and scheduled correctly based on historical data and existing technical issues. These groups include OEMs, venders, planners and turbine specialists.</li><li>Ensures accomplishment of business reliability and predictability goals through effective outage planning, estimation, scheduling and monitoring of work activities where only limited standardization exists; handles differing situations which require developing solutions within area of Steam Turbines and the supporting systems.</li><li>Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with the ability to conduct analysis and recommend process enhancements and standards relative to area of assignment.</li><li>Steam Turbine Engineers provide a significant 'boots on the ground' engineering presence during planned or emergent outages and other noteworthy events or evolutions on the centerline assets,</li><li>When not directly supporting onsite work, the ST Engineer is engaged in planning, research, reviews, root cause analysis, documentation, etc. to support the availability, reliability, and major maintenance planning for these assets.</li><li>Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures; demonstrates ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes and develops standards relevant to area of assignment.  Keeps abreast of new developments, technologies procedures and equipment.</li></ul>Specific Actions<ul><li>Provide onsite technical oversite of outage work where necessary.</li><li>Provide technical oversight at vendor shops for quality assurance.</li><li>Possesses and applies the fundamental concepts, principles, and procedures to show proficiency in technical and analytical competencies.</li><li>Maintains accurate records and files.</li><li>Monitors and analyses computer trends to of equipment health to influence future or current maintenance requirements.</li></ul>Basic / Required Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program</li><li>8 years related work experience.</li><li>Registration as a Professional Engineer</li></ul>Skills and Abilities:<ul><li>Experience using OSI PI Vision (or PI Process Book) and Microsoft Office software utilities.</li><li>Demonstrated advancing application of engineering theories and principles. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal direction.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at multiple locations.</li><li>Increasingly proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, preparing, and presenting recommendations. </li><li>Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.</li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.</li></ul>Specific Requirements<ul><li>Must have obtained Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE</li><li>Registration as a Professional Engineer IS REQUIRED</li><li>A Master’s Degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S.
