<p>At Heart Aerospace we are developing the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 800 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade.</p><p><span>We are ramping up the size of our team at Heart’s R&amp;D hub in Los Angeles, which focuses on the advancement of Heart’s hybrid-electric propulsion system and other key technologies.</span></p><p><strong>Your mission</strong></p><div>Heart is building a hybrid, battery-electric regional aircraft to decarbonize and democratize aviation. As a Senior External Loads Engineer on the Flight Sciences team, you will be responsible for the technical execution of the External Loads development process during all phases of the product life cycle.</div><div> </div><div>You will report to the Flight Sciences Director, and report to the office located in Los Angeles. </div><div> </div><div><div><strong>Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:</strong></div><div><ul><li>Develop External Loads for structural analysis and qualification purposes, both at aircraft- as well as component level.</li><li>Inform design criteria selection by integrating with other engineering disciplines.</li><li>Support trade studies, detailed design efforts as well as ground- and flight testing.</li><li>Develop and improve loads standards, methods, tools, processes, and best practices.</li><li>Collaborate with peers, leadership and other stakeholders to solve complex and multidisciplinary technical problems. Guide technical decisions by balancing risks and opportunities.</li></ul></div></div><p><strong>You'll Bring These Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>5+ years professional experience in aircraft External Loads.</li><li>Proficiency with typical Loads criteria, modeling &amp; analysis as well as validation and verification; subject matter expert in at least one of these areas.</li><li>Proficiency with the appropriate engineering tools, instrumentation, as well as simulation and test processes.</li><li>Strong fundamentals including knowledge of simplified formulas for hand-calcs, semiempirical methods, and when to apply different approaches.</li><li>Working knowledge of transport aircraft systems and operation.</li><li>Working knowledge of aircraft Aerodynamics and Mass Properties.</li><li>Excellent verbal &amp; written communication skills in English.</li><li>Strength in integrating with other engineering disciplines.</li></ul><p><strong>These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:</strong></p><ul><li>Working knowledge of adjacent engineering disciplines like Aeroelasticity, Stability &amp; Control, Structures or Propulsion.</li><li>Software development experience in Python or a similar language. Experience setting up scripted engineering workflows with robust data handovers.</li><li>Familiarity with aircraft development and certification programs, for example FAA Part 23 or 25.</li><li>Flight experience, for example Private Pilot (PPL) or above.</li></ul><p><strong>Education</strong></p><ul><li><span>Bachelor's or above in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field. </span></li></ul><div><strong>Base Pay Range: </strong></div><div><strong>$140,000<span>—</span>$176,000 USD</strong></div>
