The BESS Technician will perform both preventive and corrective maintenance, monitor system performance, and support troubleshooting activities to minimize downtime and maximize asset value RequirementsKey Job Responsibilities<ul><li>Operations &amp; Maintenance</li><li>Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on BESS equipment (inverters, transformers, batteries, switchgear, monitoring systems).</li><li>Respond to alarms and faults, perform troubleshooting, and execute corrective maintenance activities.</li><li>Support commissioning oversight and acceptance testing for new BESS projects.</li><li>Technical Support</li><li>Work with SCADA and monitoring systems to track performance and identify anomalies.</li><li>Assist engineers and contractors with root-cause analysis of system issues.</li><li>Support firmware/software updates, calibration, and system upgrades.</li><li>Safety &amp; Compliance</li><li>Adhere to OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company safety standards while working around high-voltage systems and lithium-ion batteries.</li><li>Maintain compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Participate in emergency response procedures related to fire, thermal runaway, or other safety events.</li><li>Documentation &amp; Reporting</li><li>Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, downtime, and performance metrics.</li><li>Generate work orders, inspection reports, and asset condition summaries.</li></ul>Required Education<ul><li>Associate’s degree or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Power Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li>NABCEP, OSHA 30, or NFPA 70E certification.</li><li>Prior experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, or hybrid storage systems).</li><li>Knowledge of battery management systems (BMS) and energy management systems (EMS).</li><li>Powin Centipede Stack750E experience</li></ul>Required Experience<ul><li>Specialized Skills</li><li>2+ years of hands-on experience in energy storage, renewable energy, or power systems preferred.</li><li>Experience with high-voltage systems (480V–34.5kV) and/or lithium-ion battery technologies strongly preferred.</li><li>Technical Skills</li><li>Knowledge of power electronics, electrical distribution, and energy storage technologies.</li><li>Familiarity with SCADA systems, PLCs, and remote monitoring tools.</li><li>Ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and O&amp;M manuals.</li><li>Other Requirements</li><li>Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.</li><li>Ability to travel between sites and work in outdoor/remote environments.</li><li>Willingness to be on-call for after-hours troubleshooting as needed.</li></ul>Physical RequirementsThe BESS Technician – Renewable Battery Storage may be required to endure the following physical activities, environmental conditions, and physical demands:<ul><li>Heavy Lifting</li><li>Exposure to weather elements</li><li>Working at Heights</li></ul>
