We are looking to hire a COMMERCIAL ELECTRICAL ASSISTANT ESTIMATOR in our growing Lewiston, Maine office.  This position’s responsibility will be to learn the processes required to prepare an entire estimate in a team-based environment.  This position, under the direct supervision of the lead estimator, will enable the candidate to produce consistent, accurate estimates with detailed scopes.  He/she may also work closely with the Preconstruction Manager in turning over completed estimates to the project management team.  This candidate will be trained to interact closely with electrical supply houses, contractors, architects, engineers, and customers. RESPONSIBILITIES: The chosen candidate will work closely with our estimating team to learn the following procedures.<ul><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Attend Pre-bid, Scope Review, and other meetings as required.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Bid projects with enough detail to provide accurate proposals.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Review and understanding of specifications as they apply to specific jobs and be able to process the information contained therein in the preparation of estimates.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Understand and make appropriate interpretations of all drawings and documents.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Must understand or be willing to learn the use of drawing symbols as they relate to various systems, i.e., fire alarm, lighting, lighting controls, motor controls, switches, receptacles, etc.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Must understand or be willing to learn drawing scales and the use of scale takeoff devices.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Must understand or be willing to learn to move easily within the Accubid system.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Work closely with general contractors, architects, engineers and customers as required.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Must be/become familiar with local vendors and be able to communicate sufficient information (specifications, quantities, sketches) to the vendor to ensure the receipt of accurate and competitive pricing.  Maintains that communication throughout the bid preparation process and forwards any addenda to the vendor.</li></ul>------------------------------------------------------------------ BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Industrial knowledge is a plus.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Familiarity with up-to-date electrical estimating software.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Must be able to recognize/identify potential discrepancies and errors in documents and develop questions for a timely response. </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Ability to develop estimates based in various stages of design.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Knowledge/understanding of electrical work and materials used.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Capability to set up and complete a takeoff and enter quantities in a neat, professional manner. </li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Take off Systems involved in the preparation of an estimate (motor controls, instrumentation, lighting, lighting control, fire alarm, A/V, modular wiring, grounding, motor and equipment connections, generators, power distribution equipment, feeders, UPS, etc.).</li></ul>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Bluebeam PDF software experience.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Hands-on experience in the Commercial Electrical field.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Familiarity with Accubid estimating software system.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;">Minimum of 1 years’ experience as Electrical Estimator, primarily Commercial applications.</li></ul> </div>
