Position SummaryThe Environment, Health &amp; Safety (EH&amp;S) Manager role exists to provide support and guidance to all of our facilities and field activities as it relates to all aspects of creating a safe workplace. The role is to incorporate a hands-on approach to the elimination &amp; mitigation of safety risk, assess site safety performance, drive safety accountability and develop a strong, positive, site safety culture.This position is open to candidates located anywhere in British Columbia. Frequent travel within the Lower Mainland and across the Province will be required.Specific Duties and Responsibilities<ul><li>Ensures quality delivery of GFL’s EH&amp;S program by guiding and mentoring operations, managers and supervisors to increase safety and environmental awareness and improve EH&amp;S practices of day-to-day operations.</li><li>Support the development and implementation of GFL’s EH&amp;S initiatives, programs, policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with relevant employment and occupational health and safety legislation.</li><li>Conducts audits under the corporate risk management program.</li><li>Conducts and assists with internal and external COR certification Audits (Energy Safety Canada).</li><li>Assists and coordinates the execution of environmental monitoring and emergency exercise events.</li><li>Participates in incident investigations and provides guidance to operations when conducting root cause analysis and identifying quality corrective actions.</li><li>Ensures safety hazards and environmental risks are identified and controlled through established programs.</li><li>Ensures regional branches perform required Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings as well as other legislatively required programs.</li><li>Remain up to date on health &amp; safety regulations and maintains relationships with regional regulatory personnel.</li><li>Maintains effective relationships with regional stakeholders and regulatory authorities.</li><li>Support the development and implementation of GFL’s EH&amp;S initiatives, programs, policies, and procedures while ensuring compliance with relevant employment and occupational health and safety legislation.</li><li>Coordinates involvement and participation with regional and corporate initiatives.</li><li>Demonstrates an understanding of internal and external customer requirements and provides quality service in accordance with company and regulatory standards.</li><li>Works closely with other regional and corporate staff to enhance the company’s risk management system.</li><li>Provides guidance through coaching and positive reinforcement to operations management to ensure that all employees are trained to do their work in a safe and environmentally sound manner.</li></ul>Education and Qualifications<ul><li>A related degree, diploma and/or professional designation (CRSP, ASP) are preferred.</li><li>5 years demonstrated progressive experience and management within the EH&amp;S field is preferred.</li><li>Knowledge and/or experience in industrial, waste disposal, trucking or manufacturing environments is considered a strong asset.</li><li>COR Auditing Certificate (Western Provinces) is an asset.</li><li>Enablon, Docebo and/or WorkHub experience are considered an asset.</li><li>Valid Class 5 driver’s license and own means of transportation for local travel.</li><li>Must be able to travel to work sites in western Canada or ability to fly to various locations for extended periods of time.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities <ul><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly convey safety regulations, policies, and procedures to employees at all levels.</li><li>Skills in designing and delivering large scale safety and environmental programs.</li><li>Proficient in the use of various office software programs.</li><li>Capability to think critically and find innovative solutions to safety or environmental challenges.</li><li>Ability to work effectively with other departments to integrate EH&amp;S practices into everyday operations.</li><li>Familiarity with safety management software and databases.</li><li>Confidence in the ability to work in a constantly changing, fast-paced work environment.</li></ul>  We thank you for your interest.
