<div><b style="font-size:12pt;">The Role</b></div><div><br></div><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">You will be driving pre-construction activities for our distributed generation projects, which typically include solar, natural gas generation, and energy storage resources.  This hybrid role reports to our Sr. Director of Project Engineering and Preconstruction, and will be based out of either our Oakland or Santa Monica, CA offices.   You can expect to travel within the primary area of operation.  </span></div><br><br><h3>Key responsibilities will include:</h3><ul><li>Drive pre-construction activities, including take-offs, bid solicitation, bid review, subcontractor negotiations, and building final project budgets.</li><li>Liaison between the business development, engineering, and project management teams to ensure internal stakeholders are aligned throughout the pre-construction phase of each project.</li><li>Grow Scale’s existing partner base by building relationships with new and existing contractors and vendors.</li><li>Receive and levelize bids (pricing) from all subcontractors and compare to internally developed costs on the opportunity to date</li><li>Drive material procurement across multiple projects with a focus on meeting schedule deadlines and staying within budget.</li><li>Produce detailed and accurate scopes of work to aid in contractor pricing. Ensure internal and external stakeholder requirements are captured in the scope.</li><li>Utilize industry knowledge and experience to develop early-stage project budgets based on the conceptual scope.</li><li>Prioritize and execute budget development, contractor pricing, and material procurement for multiple projects in various geographic locations simultaneously.</li><li>Coordinate equipment procurement strategy with procurement team and EPC contractor.</li><li>Source updates on material pricing and labor rates.</li><li>Price out multiple scenarios for portfolio projects within a short time frame.</li><li>Perform site visits.</li></ul><h3>For you to be successful in the role, you should have:</h3><ul><li>5+ years of experience in Construction Management, general contracting, logistics, engineering, or the energy industry, with an emphasis on budgeting, cost estimating, and procurement.</li><li>Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with equipment vendors and contractors, specifically in the electrical construction and distributed energy field.</li><li>Knowledge of building codes and regulations.</li><li>Excellent communication and customer service skills.</li><li>Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.</li><li>Have the initiative to work autonomously and be comfortable representing SMS in customer-facing situations.</li><li>A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.</li><li>Strong Microsoft Excel and Office Suite tools skills.</li></ul><br><div><span style="font-size:12pt;">This is a great opportunity to have a long-term impact on a fast-paced, private equity backed growth business.
