Our proprietary technology accelerates slow pyrolysis, turning waste biomass into stable charcoal (solid carbon), which can be buried for permanent carbon sequestration, integrated into materials to replace fossil-based products, or used as a soil amendment. We are seeking a Field Operations and EH&amp;S Manager to oversee all on-site activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations at Carba’s pyrolysis sites. This role is responsible for managing field personnel, maintaining EH&amp;S (Environmental Health &amp; Safety) compliance, and fulfilling all reporting and documentation requirements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced environments and is ready to take full ownership of field operations. This role will report to the Head of Operations. Objectives and Responsibilities:Site Operations Management<ul><li>Fully accountable for all day-to-day field activities at Carba’s pyrolysis sites.</li><li>Manage a team of operators and technicians to conduct biomass feedstock intake, equipment operation, and material shipments to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations.</li><li>Establish and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for field teams.</li><li>Direct and supervise on-site personnel, ensuring alignment with operational goals and safety procedures.</li></ul>EH&amp;S Compliance and Documentation&nbsp;<ul><li>Oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&amp;S) programs, ensuring adherence to all regulations and best practices.</li><li>Maintain and enforce safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.</li><li>Ensure regulatory compliance with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as carbon credit registries.</li><li>Develop data collection, recordkeeping, and reporting systems for safety and compliance tracking.</li></ul>Operational Optimization &amp; Performance Monitoring<ul><li>Implement processes to consistently meet product and project specifications.</li><li>Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements in field operations.</li><li>Develop performance metrics and reporting tools to track site productivity and safety compliance.</li></ul>Team Leadership &amp; Training<ul><li>Hire, train, and manage a high-performing field operations team.</li><li>Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for field personnel.</li></ul> Required skills and qualifications:<ul><li>Hands-on experience in operations leadership, production management, and team supervision.</li><li>Knowledge of EH&amp;S regulations, permitting, and compliance reporting.</li><li>Proven track record in developing SOPs and managing site documentation.</li><li>5+ years of experience in field operations, plant management, industrial manufacturing, or biomass processing.</li><li>Self-motivated, thrives in small team environment and likes challenges</li><li>Organized and accountable</li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal oversight</li><li>Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive problem solver.</li></ul>Preferred skills and qualifications:&nbsp;<ul><li>Experience with biomass processing, pyrolysis systems, or industrial-scale material handling.</li><li>Familiarity with carbon credit registries, sustainability reporting, and MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification) processes.</li><li>Startup experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent demonstrated experience</li></ul> This role will be on-site in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota and require up to 20% of time traveling when necessary.&nbsp;&nbsp; This position description is written as a guideline to inform employees of what is generally expected of them at each job level.&nbsp; The description is not intended to be all encompassing or limiting in any manner; rather, it is hoped it will add understanding and better reflect the work performed at all levels of employment.
