We build scalable, reliable software and hardware that drive the heart of solar plant operations.We are actively seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Developer to join our Edge Gateway software development team with focus in backend. In this critical role, you will design, build, and optimize backend APIs written in Go (Golang), supporting communications between the Edge Gateway, Edge Wireless Network Controllers, and Edge Motor Controllers. These systems power real-time monitoring, control, and analytics of solar tracker fleets worldwide.As a senior member of the team, you will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders in software, hardware, and cloud engineering. You will lead API design discussions, enforce best practices, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the scalability and resilience of distributed systems deployed globally. This is a hands-on role for a developer passionate about backend systems, IoT data pipelines, and high-availability architectures.<h2>Key Job Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain Go-based backend APIs for the Edge Gateway platform, ensuring robust communication with Edge Wireless Network Controllers and Edge Motor Controllers.</li><li>Implement RESTful APIs, authentication/authorization mechanisms, and secure communication protocols (TLS, SSH, encryption).</li><li>Build services for real-time data ingestion, processing, and storage, ensuring high throughput and fault tolerance.</li><li>Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to integrate IoT edge devices into cloud-based services.</li><li>Debug and troubleshoot complex distributed systems, including interactions between backend APIs, IoT gateways, and edge devices.</li><li>Ensure observability by implementing logging, monitoring, and tracing frameworks (e.g., Jaeger, Prometheus).</li><li>Participate in Agile development processes including backlog grooming, sprint planning, code reviews, and retrospectives.</li><li>Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.</li><li>Collaborate with DevOps to ensure smooth CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments in Docker/Kubernetes environments.</li><li>Continuously improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of backend systems.</li></ul><h2>Basic Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.</li><li>Experience: 6+ years of backend software development.</li><li>Programming Skills: Strong expertise in Go; proficiency with SQL and at least one modern database (PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, InfluxDB, Redis).</li><li>Technical Knowledge:<ul><li>Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and distributed systems architecture.</li><li>Experience with REST API design, authentication/authorization (OAuth2/JWT), and secure protocols.</li><li>Hands-on experience with Linux, Docker, Git, and debugging tools.</li><li>Strong grasp of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, HTTP, MQTT, RabbitMQ).</li></ul></li><li>Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate across globally distributed teams.</li><li>Languages: Fluency in English.</li></ul><h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.</li><li>Experience:<ul><li>Prior work in IoT systems, industrial automation, or energy/solar systems.</li><li>Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).</li><li> Experience working with monitoring/observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger).</li><li>Programming Skills: Additional proficiency in C/C++ or Python.</li></ul></li><li>Technical Knowledge:<ul><li>Knowledge of time-series databases (TimescaleDB, InfluxDB).</li><li>Understanding of data pipelines and real-time stream processing.</li><li>Familiarity with concurrency patterns and performance tuning in Go.</li></ul></li><li>Experience with project tracking and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.</li></ul>At Nextracker, we are leading in the energy transition, providing the most comprehensive portfolio of intelligent solar tracker and software solutions for solar power plants, as well as strategic services to capture the full value of solar power plants for our customers.
