You will be placed on one of the sub-teams listed below based on your interests.Requirements:<ul><li>Applicants should have an interest in the design, fabrication, and programming of robots.</li><li>Expected time commitment of 4 hours per week.</li><li>An eagerness to learn and develop technical skills.</li><li>Experience with programming and CAD will be considered an asset, but is not mandatory.</li></ul>Mechanical DesignResponsibilities:<ul><li>3D modelling of all our competition robots</li><li>Decision-making for how our robots will function</li><li>Procurement and selection of mechanical parts</li></ul>Members will gain experience in:<ul><li>Design and Manufacturing</li><li>CAD Design and Modelling</li><li>The Iterative Design Process</li></ul>Computer VisionResponsibilities:<ul><li>Developing an Object Detection Algorithm</li><li>Researching Machine Learning Methods</li><li>Integrating the algorithm with the Auto Aim team</li></ul>Members will gain experience in:<ul><li>Programming in C++ and/or Python</li><li>Artificial Intelligence Models</li><li>Data Collection and Training</li></ul>Auto Aim Responsibilities:<ul><li>Controlling the motion of the turret</li><li>Programming autonomous controls for an aim and fire system</li><li>Integrating Auto Aim with computer vision co-processing outputs</li></ul>Members will gain experience in:<ul><li>Programming in C++</li><li>PID Controls</li><li>Perception and Projectile Motion</li></ul>Auto NavResponsibilities:<ul><li>Implement autonomous navigation and path planning</li><li>Integrate ROS2 packages for perception and localization</li><li>Test and validate robots' autonomous driving capabilities</li></ul>Members will gain experience in:<ul><li>Programming using ROS2</li><li>Localization Algorithms</li><li>Navigation and Path Planning</li></ul>ControlsResponsibilities:<ul><li>Developing robotic control systems </li><li>Implementing omnidirectional navigation and gimbal control</li><li>Embedded development with sensors and actuators</li></ul>Members will gain experience in:<ul><li>Programming in C++</li><li>Microcontrollers and Actuation</li><li>Embedded Systems</li></ul>Electrical TeamResponsibilities:<ul><li>Designing safe and easy-to-use power and signal connections.</li><li>Development and testing of a Supercapacitor Module. (analogous to a rechargeable nitro boost for a car)</li><li>Designing and implementing safety systems for higher-power circuits.</li></ul>Members will gain experience in:<ul><li>Circuit analysis and design with power electronics.</li><li>PCB design using CAD.</li><li>Circuit simulation software.</li><li>Microcontroller programming and the UART data protocol.</li></ul>Robot AcademyResponsibilities:<ul><li>Acquire the foundational knowledge in anticipation of actively participating in the following semester/year.</li><li>Learn about the competition, the robots, and the parts of the robot.</li><li>Complete mini projects to consolidate skills learnt.</li><li>Ask lots of questions.</li></ul>Members will gain experience in:<ul><li>Programming in C++ </li><li>CAD Design and Modelling</li><li>Using microcontrollers</li><li>The engineering design process</li></ul>If you have any questions regarding the application or interview process, please contact us at qkrt @ engsoc.queensu.ca.Deadline to apply: September 17, 2025 at 11:59 pm
