You’ll design the tools used daily by the people building our aircraft — making their work faster, safer, and more intuitive — while ensuring the precision and traceability required for aerospace certification.</p><p> </p><p>Factory Systems is the technological backbone of Joby’s operations, spanning engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and operations. You’ll work closely with product managers and engineers as a thought partner, shaping strategy and delivering end-to-end design solutions that directly impact Joby’s mission.</p><h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul> <li>Lead design from research and discovery through wireframes, prototypes, and final specs</li> <li>Translate complex technical workflows into simple, elegant user experiences</li> <li>Balance big-picture systems design with pixel-level attention to detail</li> <li>Collaborate closely with PMs and engineers as a strategic partner in shaping products</li> <li>Conduct user research and usability testing with factory, engineering, and quality teams</li> <li>Create and maintain scalable design systems</li> <li>Explore opportunities to incorporate AI into both the design process and end-user solutions, defining best practices for responsible AI integration</li> <li>Rapidly prototype and test ideas to validate decisions early</li> <li> </li></ul><h2>Required</h2><ul> <li>BA/BS in Design, HCI, or related field, or equivalent experience</li> <li>5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio of complex systems or enterprise tools</li> <li>Strong skills in modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch)</li> <li>Ability to simplify complex workflows through thoughtful interaction design</li> <li>Experience conducting user research and usability testing</li> <li>Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences</li> <li> </li></ul><h2>Desired</h2><ul> <li>Background in aviation, aerospace, or other regulated industries </li> <li>Experience designing enterprise systems (ERP, MES, PLM, QMS, etc.) </li> <li>Familiarity with manufacturing processes and workflows </li> <li>Experience in startups or high-growth environments </li> <li>Ability to contribute to visual design and motion/interaction in addition to UX</li></ul><p>Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $130,300 - $209,300 per year.
