This role requires a balance of operational expertise, financial management, and people leadership.Principal Duties &amp; Responsibilities:(Management may amend or assign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time)Vehicle Acquisition &amp; Management<ul><li>Analyze company needs to determine the appropriate type, size, and mix of vehicles.</li><li>Manage the purchase or lease of vehicles, securing the best possible terms and pricing.</li><li>Evaluate future fleet needs to ensure scalability and efficiency.</li></ul>Fuel &amp; Maintenance Oversight<ul><li>Develop strategies to manage and reduce fuel consumption, including fuel card programs and vendor negotiations.</li><li>Design and enforce preventative maintenance programs to extend vehicle life, reduce costs, and ensure safety.</li></ul>Driver Management &amp; Training<ul><li>Hire, train, and onboard new drivers, setting clear qualification standards and expectations.</li><li>Develop and implement driver safety, compliance, and training programs.</li><li>Monitor driver performance to identify unsafe behaviors and improve efficiency.</li></ul>Safety, Compliance &amp; Policies<ul><li>Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, CVSA, IFTA, and all local, state, and federal regulations.</li><li>Maintain accurate records including DVIRs, ELD data, maintenance logs, trip reports, and payroll records.</li><li>Establish and enforce company fleet policies covering safety, vehicle use, inspections, and accident procedures.</li></ul>Data &amp; Telematics<ul><li>Utilize telematics and fleet management systems to monitor fuel usage, vehicle performance, and driver behavior.</li><li>Analyze data to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize routing and utilization.</li></ul>Financial &amp; Cost Control<ul><li>Manage and forecast fleet-related expenses, including vehicle payments, insurance, depreciation, licensing, maintenance, fuel, and unexpected costs.</li><li>Develop cost-control measures to maximize ROI on fleet assets.</li><li>Oversee remarketing, repurposing, or disposal of older vehicles to recover value or reduce costs.</li></ul>Strategic Planning &amp; Leadership<ul><li>Serve as the communication link between drivers, operations staff, and upper management.</li><li>Provide regular reports on fleet activities, performance, and costs.</li><li>Develop long-term fleet strategies to support business growth, sustainability, and efficiency goals.</li><li>All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).</li><li>5+ years of experience in fleet management, transportation, logistics, or a related role.</li><li>Experience managing medium to large fleets across multiple vehicle classes (e.g., vans, trucks, specialty vehicles).</li><li>Proficiency with fleet management software, telematics systems, and GPS tracking technology.</li><li>Strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, CVSA, and IFTA regulations.</li><li>Knowledge of vehicle acquisition processes (lease vs. purchase), maintenance scheduling, and lifecycle management.</li><li>Ability to analyze fleet data and prepare detailed reports on performance, costs, and compliance.</li><li>Proven ability to lead, mentor, and train drivers and fleet personnel.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with executives, drivers, vendors, and regulatory agencies.</li><li>Ability to balance short-term operational needs with long-term strategic planning.</li></ul>Supervisory Responsibility: This position does have supervisory responsibility.Expected Hours of Work: An Employee is expected to work a minimum of forty (40) hours per week.
