You will work closely with external equipment suppliers and internal teams including Engineering, Quality, Production, and Maintenance to design, program, test, and commission complex automation systems.</p><div><p><strong>You will:</strong></p><ul><li>Be proficient in virtual commissioning of automation systems Define the scope and deliverables of virtual commissioning during equipment development and continuous improvement projects</li><li>Create standards and guidelines for equipment suppliers to develop digital twins and perform virtual commissioning. Standards to include choice of software, architecture (Hardware-in-loop / Software-in-loop), methods, and required outputs for the virtual commissioning exercise</li><li>Collaborate with equipment suppliers during all phases of equipment development to leverage the benefits of simulation for evaluating cycle time, detecting interferences, and optimizing process sequences</li><li>Perform in-house testing of supplier models and provide feedback to their automation teams on deficiencies or improvement opportunities</li><li>Manage a repository of digital twins for automation systems deployed in the factory</li><li>Support the manufacturing engineering team in evaluating changes to automation systems, including running multiple what-if scenarios on the digital twin</li></ul><p><strong>You bring:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, Masters or PhD will consider with less experience </li><li>5+ years of VCE experience in the automotive industry</li><li>Proficiency in virtual commissioning software – Siemens Process Simulate and Plant Simulate (Tecnomatix) and/or Rockwell Automation Emulate3D</li><li>Basic to intermediate capability in 2D and 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or CATIA</li><li>Experience in designing, programming, commissioning of automation systems for discrete manufacturing, preferably in the automotive industry</li><li>Knowledge of Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs and Fanuc Robots</li><li>Knowledge of interfacing PLCs with robots including standard and safety IO to manage robot program execution, prevent collisions, and ensure operator safety</li><li>Familiarity with commonly used process and material handling components such as sensors, clamps, crowders, lift-and-locates, conveyors, AGVs, gantries, turntables</li><li>Familiarity with commonly used safety system components such as safety relays, light curtains, area scanners, guard monitoring and guard locking devices</li><li>Knowledge of equipment safety standards such as ISO12100, ISO 13849 and ISO 10218</li><li>Strong organization skills – tracking schedule and open items, creating meeting agendas and minutes</li><li>Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company</li><li>Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time</li></ul></div><div> </div><div> </div><div>At Lucid, we don’t just welcome diversity - we celebrate it!
