You will play a key role in shaping our onboard marine navigation solutions – including Wärtsilä Navi-Sailor WECDIS for Navy applications, and other current and next generation onboard navigation products including Wärtsilä Navi-Sailor ECDIS, Wärtsilä BridgeMate, Wärtsilä Navi-Planner and Wärtsilä IoT Gateway. In this role, you will act as the bridge between product managers, development teams, certification authorities, and end-users, ensuring our solutions remain compliant, cyber-secure, and future-ready (S-100, IEC/IHO, naval standards). You will join an Agile product development team and contribute across the full lifecycle: requirements, compliance validation, certification, documentation, and expert consultancy. The preferred location for this position is Helsinki, Finland.    Key Responsibilities:   <ul><li>Requirements engineering: Collect, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements for navigation products.</li><li>Documentation: Compile, structure, and review technical manuals, guides, and other technical documentation.</li><li>Cross-team consultancy: Support software developers, product managers, support engineers, and other stakeholders with system-level insights and advice.</li><li>Standards expertise: Help with interpreting applicable international standards in the area of maritime navigation (IMO, IEC, IHO, NATO STANAG, etc.).</li><li>Certification support: Liaise with classification societies and authorities (DNV, BSH, etc.) to secure and maintain type approvals and certificates (MED-B, MER, cyber compliance, etc.).</li><li>Verification &amp; validation: Design and setup up test benches and validate the products</li><li>Knowledge sharing: Maintain the product knowledge base, and conduct trainings and webinars for internal teams, partners, and customers.</li><li>Customer interaction: Provide expert support during inspections, audits, and customer acceptance trials.</li><li>Travel: Occasional business travel (10–20%) to customer sites, shipyards, and authority meetings (most of WECDIS projects are located in India).</li></ul>  To be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:  <ul><li>Bachelor’s or Master’s in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, IT, or similar.</li><li>3+ years of experience as a System Analyst / Requirements Engineer / Technical.</li><li>Solid knowledge of IT networks (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP).</li><li>Solid knowledge of computer operating systems: Windows (advanced), Linux.</li><li>Skilled in requirements and documentation tools (Jira, Confluence).</li><li>Team player and collaboration mindset.</li><li>Analytical mindset and ability to learn quickly.</li><li>Good communication and presentation skills in English.</li><li>Readiness to business trips.</li></ul> Strong plus <ul><li>Maritime experience will be an advantage.</li><li>Familiarity with relevant IMO, IHO, IEC standards and certification processes.</li><li>Strong knowledge of navigational or marine electronics systems (ECDIS, WECDIS, INS/IBS, radar integration).</li><li>Knowledge of marine networks and NMEA protocol.</li><li>Experience working on military projects as project manager, analyst or another role.</li><li>Basic knowledge of Python, Batch or PowerShell.</li></ul>  Why you and us?     At Wärtsilä, we encourage all employees to take advantage of our diverse training activities, learning solutions, and self-study materials.
