The Engineering team sits within the O&amp;M department under the technical services group. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Data Engineer interested in a career in renewable energy. The individual will sit within our Engineering team, working to improve our existing data management infrastructure and initiatives within O&amp;M. This team member will be a vital part of the digital transformation work being done in the fastest-growing segment of the power sector.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities: <ul><li>Monitor the long-term performance and fleet health of one of the leading utility-scale solar PV fleets in the country </li><li>Develop new features and performance optimizations in our sensor-processing Python codebase </li><li>Develop data dashboards in Sigma that provide performance reports of our solar fleet for internal and external stakeholders </li><li>Create performant views in Snowflake that surface sensor data and other fleet health metrics to BI dashboards </li><li>Design and deploy dynamically scalable, available, fault-tolerant, and reliable data processing pipelines </li><li>Collaborate with individuals on the DevOps, Asset Management, Battery Optimization, and Operations Engineering teams </li><li>Develop new and debug existing Flask applications that are used within the company </li><li>Conduct in-depth statistical analysis to evaluate ROI of various fleet health initiatives </li><li>Analyzing production and weather data, working with our O&amp;M providers to provide operational recommendations to improve underperforming sites </li></ul>Required Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: <ul><li>Bachelor’s in Engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science </li><li>5+ years of experience developing software in Python </li><li>Experience using Pandas (or Polars) for data analysis </li><li>Experience working with databases (Postgres, MySQL), data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift) or Databricks.  </li><li>Experience writing SQL queries and creating performance enhancements to existing views. </li><li>Experience creating and designing ETL/ELT processes and workflows that organize incoming bulk data into a sematic/metrics layer. Experience or training in data management, data engineering, and/or exchange-transfer-load (ETL) software </li><li>Experience or training in data visualization software such as Sigma or Power BI Familiar with statistical analysis techniques and tools for large datasets </li></ul>Preferred Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: <ul><li>Familiarity with aspects of electrical maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, protection equipment, network communications and monitoring </li><li>Familiarity with dbt (data build tool) </li><li>Experience with the design and operation of photovoltaic systems </li><li>Experience with system modeling utilizing PVlib, PVsyst, SAM, or other modeling software </li><li>Experience with data acquisition systems </li><li>Proficiency with MS Office Suite with an in-depth focus of Excel. </li></ul>Requirements/Work Environment: This role will be based out of our Durham, NC office following a hybrid work schedule of 2 remote days and 3 days in office. The ability to obtain unescorted access for NERC/CIP facilities is required. A note to Recruiting Agencies Cypress Creek Renewables Human Resources team does not accept unsolicited resumes from third party recruiters, staffing firms, or related agencies.
