You'll play a pivotal role in mapping detailed habitats, conduct LULC classification, monitoring biodiversity, and informing conservation efforts across diverse landscapes. </li></ul><h3>How you'll make an impact? </h3><ul><li><b>Layer Mapping: </b></li><div>Utilise remote sensing data (satellite imagery, LiDAR, aerial photography, field surveys) and GIS software to map and monitor habitat, biodiversity, and ecosystem health. </div><div>Design and create intricate habitat maps using GIS software (QGIS,ArcGIS,or similar). </div><div>Refine map symbology,labelling,and layout for clarity and visual impact. </div><div>Manage and organise large geospatial datasets effectively. </div><li><b>Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) Classification: </b></li><div>Create and modify LULC classification using remote sensing data to identify and map different land cover types across the UK / EU / USA landscape. </div><div>Select and apply appropriate classification algorithms and techniques based on data characteristics and project goals. </div><div>Assess classification accuracy(QA/QC) and uncertainty through validation with ground truth data. </div><div>Utilise LULC information to understand habitat distribution,landscape patterns,and changes over time.</div><li><b>Geospatial Analysis for Habitats: </b></li><div>Conduct spatial analyses to study habitats (UK / EU / USA or other classification standards) at various scales,utilising satellite imagery,LiDAR,and aerial imagery.  </div><div>Develop and apply advanced habitat mapping techniques tailored to UK / EU / USA ecosystems (heathlands,peatlands,woodlands,coastal environments and others). </div><div>Analyse habitat change trends and assess the impact of factors like climate change,land-use intensification,and invasive species. </div><div>Create maps of habitat distribution,biodiversity hotspots,and conservation priorities. </div><li><b>Collaboration and Communication: </b></li><div>Collaborate with field ecologists, data scientists, GIS specialists, and other stakeholders to validate remote sensing data and refine mapping approaches. </div><div>Stay abreast of ecological concepts, geospatial technology advancements and integrate them into mapping and monitoring strategies.</div></ul><h3>What we're looking for? </h3><ul><li>Master's or equivalent degree in ecology, forestry, environmental science, botany, zoology, earth sciences (geography, geology, geoinformatics)or other related field with a strong emphasis on ecology, habitat enhancement, biodiversity, geospatial analysis and remote sensing.  </li><li>Prior experience in applying geospatial analysis to ecological mapping or conservation projects is highly desirable.  </li><li>Understanding of habitat mapping,LULC classification,and analysis using remote sensing data,ideally focused on UK/EU ecosystems is preferred.  </li><li>Hands on in GIS software (QGIS,ArcGIS,or similar) and experience remote sensing data and tools.  </li><li>Collaborative and team-oriented with the ability to work independently and in a team.  </li><li>Excellent communication skills to convey complex information effectively. </li><li>0 to 1 year of total work experience.</li></ul><br><div>We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
